Jesus didn't come just to make us better people. He came to make us new. ❤️

Through the cross, Jesus did more than reconcile us to God. He broke down the walls that divide us and brought us together as one family.

In a world where division seems to be everywhere, the Church is called to live differently. Not simply tolerating one another, but genuinely loving, encouraging, and walking alongside one another.

That's the beauty of what Christ has done. He takes people from different backgrounds, experiences, and walks of life and unites them in Him.

"For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility” Eph 2:14

It's tonight! I am so pumped for our Worship and Prayer Night! Jeremy will be leading our time in worship. If you haven't experienced his leadership for a Worship and Prayer Night - it is an awesome experience. I am leading a short devotional that I wrote this morning on "Why Worship and Prayer Night" is one of the most vital hours of the month! And then Pastor Julie will close the evening with a united time of prayer. It's gonna be the best 60 minutes of your day, maybe your week, maybe your month!

❤️ Pastor Appreciation Month

This past Sunday, we wrapped up Pastor Appreciation Month by honoring our Lead Pastor, Eric Livingston!

Church Elder Kevin DeHoff took a moment during our service to recognize Pastor Eric and express our appreciation for his leadership, dedication, and heart for God’s people.

Pastoring is so much more than preaching on Sunday mornings. It’s praying for others, walking alongside families through life’s joys and challenges, making difficult decisions, offering encouragement, and faithfully shepherding the people God has entrusted to your care.

Pastor Eric, thank you for your commitment to teaching God’s Word, your heart for our church family, and your continued service to WatersEdge and Illinois Ministries. We are grateful for the time, energy, and love you pour into ministry, often in ways that go unseen.

We also want to recognize Lisa and thank her for the love and support she gives alongside you.

As Pastor Appreciation Month comes to a close, let’s remember that encouraging and praying for our pastors shouldn’t be limited to October. They need our prayers, encouragement, and support throughout the year.

What a great time we had at our WatersEdge Chili Cook-Off yesterday!

From the delicious chili to the friendly competition, laughter, and fellowship, it was a wonderful afternoon spent together as a church family. ❤️

We had some amazing entries this year, and the competition was so close that we even had a tie!

Congratulations to all FOUR of our winners!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who entered their chili, came out to taste and vote, and helped make the afternoon so much fun!

And a special thank-you to our incredible Event Team for all the planning, preparation, setup, and hard work that went into making this event happen. We appreciate everything you do to bring our church family together!

Events like these remind us that fellowship doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it’s as simple as gathering around a table, sharing a meal, and enjoying one another’s company.

We can attend church every Sunday, read our Bibles, listen to sermons, and even serve in ministry... but none of those things can replace a personal relationship with Jesus.

God doesn't want us to simply know *about* Him. He invites us to know Him personally.

Jesus said, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me." — John 10:27 (ESV)

Recognizing His voice begins with spending time in His presence, getting into His Word, and learning to follow where He leads.

Are we making room in our lives to truly know Him, or are we allowing the busyness of life to take His place?

God doesn't want visitation. He wants habitation.

Sometimes we live as though God's presence is something we have to wait for—Sunday morning, a worship service, or a moment when life gets difficult.

But through Jesus, we have been given something so much greater.

For those who belong to Christ, the Holy Spirit doesn't just visit occasionally. He dwells within us. We don't have to wait for a special moment to seek Him. We can walk with Him every single day.

"In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit." — Ephesians 2:22 (ESV)

Are we living with an awareness of His presence, or only seeking Him when we need something?
