This Month’s Attribute of God Is: God is Redeemer

Jesus took the punishment for sin and rose from the dead, defeating death and offering new life to all who believe. Jesus revealed that all of Scripture points to His redemptive mission to save people from sin. The promise of His return assures believers that redemption is not only a past event but a future hope. God sent the Holy Spirit to empower His followers and continue His work of redemption through the Church. God is our Redeemer who rescues, restores, and brings new life through Jesus.

This Month’s Attribute of God Is: Jesus loves.
Throughout our stories this month, the love of Jesus shines bright. Jesus’ unconditional love reaches beyond all boundaries. Jesus knew the suffering ahead, yet His love compelled Him to move forward for our sake. Even in the pain of betrayal, Jesus remained faithful—His love never wavered. Through every act, Jesus showed us a love that is constant, sacrificial, and beyond measure.

This Month’s Attribute of God Is: Jesus is Lord of all
Jesus is Lord of all—over rules, nature, people and even time itself. Jesus prioritized people over societal expectations, met earthly needs and broke through household tasks to draw people towards Himself. Alongside His humanity, Jesus also revealed His true divine nature on the mountaintop proving that we can trust Him as our Savior.

This Month’s Attribute of God Is: Jesus is the Son of God

At Jesus’ baptism, God declared Jesus His beloved Son. Jesus resisted Satan’s temptations and proved His divine authority. People recognized Jesus’ power and chose to follow Him. Jesus calmed creation and cast out demons with only His words. His words and miracles showed that Jesus was not just a teacher, but truly the Son of God.

Monthly Memory Verse: But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name. (John 20:31)

December's Month’s Biblical Theme Was: God is a promise keeper

When sin entered the world, God made a promise to His people to send a Savior who would redeem them. Our great God did not leave us to our sin but kept His promise! This month we are celebrating the fruition of that Genesis promise. Jesus is our forever King, Messiah and Rescuer. The stunning beauty of the Christmas season is that God is the promise keeper who sent the greatest gift of all, Jesus!

Monthly Memory Verse: For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)

Elisha is Surrounded (2 Kings 6:8-23)
Brite Idea: God is working, even when we don’t see it.
This Month’s Biblical Theme: God is with us.

After the kingdom was divided, Israel and Judah had many kings, most of whom ignored God. The Syrian king sought to capture Elisha, sending a large army to Dothan. Elisha’s servant was afraid, but Elisha prayed for God to open his eyes. The servant saw God’s army in the mountains. Elisha then prayed for the Syrian soldiers' blindness and led them to Samaria, where he advised the king to spare them and host a feast instead.

Elisha’s servant felt overwhelmed by the surrounding army until God opened his eyes and he could see God’s chariots of fire. There are many times in life when we may feel surrounded and defeated. In Ephesians 1:18, Paul said he prayed that the people would have the eyes of their hearts enlightened—or opened—so that they could see the hope they have in Jesus. Because Jesus defeated death and made a way for us to be made right with God forever, we are never alone. He gives us hope that is greater than every circumstance.

Navigating a Broken World - Fear

More and more kids are struggling with social anxiety, phobias, panic attacks, and generalized anxiety. If one of the kids in your home struggles with fear, you are not alone. In this week’s Brite lesson, kids learn that God is with us when we are afraid. When your child opens up about their fears, be cautious not to diminish their feelings by saying something like, “Tests aren’t a big deal, you will have to learn how to get over that” or “You’re really scared of that?” Instead, validate their feelings but don’t dwell on the fear. Be willing to share something you have feared in your life. Point to Jesus always.

Here’s how we discussed this topic and how you can discuss it at home:

Discuss: What are some things kids your age are afraid of?

Discuss: How do you react when you are scared?

Discuss: What does God have to say about when we are afraid?

Say: The Bible tells us not to fear more than 300 times, not because God gets mad at us or because we are failures if we feel afraid. Rather, it’s because God knew that fear would be a big struggle for all of us. He is a loving Father who cares for us. Some of us struggle with smaller fears. We don’t like snakes or walking in a dark hallway. Kids in our world struggle with fear. If that’s you, know that you aren’t alone. God understands your feelings and wants you to talk to Him about them. It’s also okay to talk to an adult you trust about what you are feeling. And remember, you are not alone because Jesus is always with you. Psalm 56:3 says: When I am afraid, I put my trust in You. This verse is great to remember and repeat when fear seems overwhelming. Jesus is more powerful than everything we face, and He is always with us.

The Kingdom Divides (1 Kings 11-12)
Brite Idea: God never gives up on us.
This Month’s Biblical Theme: God is with us.

King Solomon married many foreign wives who led him to worship other gods, despite God’s warnings. God told Solomon He would divide the kingdom, leaving only a portion for his family because of the promise He made to David. Solomon’s son, Rehoboam, ignored wise counsel and made the people's burdens heavier, leading to rebellion and the division of Israel. God promised a future King who would unite His people.

Even the wisest man in the world messed up. In Mark 10:18, Jesus said: “No one is good except God alone.” All people sin. We think, say or do things that disobey God. That is why Jesus came. Our sin separates us from God because He is holy and perfect. But He loves us so much that He sent Jesus to us. Jesus died and rose again, making a way for us to be forgiven and to have a relationship with God forever.

Monthly Memory Verse: God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1)
