Spooner Church of the Nazarene

Spooner Church of the Nazarene We're an evangelical Christian Church, a loving family of followers of Jesus Christ, welcoming all. We are a Great Commission church.

From www.nazarene.org: "The mission of the Church of the Nazarene is to make Christlike disciples in the nations. As a global community of faith, WE ARE COMMISSIONED TO TAKE THE GOOD NEWS OF LIFE IN JESUS CHRIST TO PEOPLE EVERYWHERE and to spread the message of scriptural holiness across the lands. THE CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE BONDS TOGETHER INDIVIDUALS who have made Jesus Christ Lord of their lives

, sharing in Christian fellowship, and seeking to strengthen each other in faith development through worship, preaching, training, and service to others. We strive to express the compassion of Jesus Christ to all persons along with our personal commitment to Christlike living. While the primary motive of the church is to glorify God, WE ALSO ARE CALLED TO ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE IN HIS MISSION – RECONCILING THE WORLD TO HIMSELF. The statement of mission contains historical essentials of our mission: EVANGELISM, SANCTIFICATION, DISCIPLESHIP, COMPASSION. The essence of holiness is Christlikeness. Nazarenes are becoming a sent people-into homes, work places, communities, and villages as well as other cities and countries. Missionaries are now sent from all regions of the world. GOD CONTINUES CALLING ORDINARY PEOPLE TO DO EXTRAORDINARY THINGS made possible by the person of the Holy Spirit." The biggest lie about "peaceful" relationships? 👇

That they're peaceful because there's no conflict.

Here's what actually happens when you avoid conflict:
✨ Surface-level harmony → but underneath, resentment is quietly building
✨ "Keeping the peace" → actually means one (or both) of you is silencing your needs
✨ The smile stays on → while connection slowly fades

Real peace isn't the absence of conflict. It's the presence of trust that you can work through hard things together.

The healthiest relationships aren't conflict-free. They're conflict-capable.

They know how to:
- Speak up when something feels off
- Listen without getting defensive
- Repair after tough conversations
- Grow closer through challenges (not despite them)

Because here's the truth:

Every avoided conversation is a brick in the wall between you. Every worked-through disagreement is a thread in the fabric that holds you together.

You don't need a perfect relationship. You need one where both people show up for the hard stuff.

A restless heart can misinterpret a clear direction. Before you ask, “What is God saying?” sometimes you need to ask, “What is happening inside me?”

There is a difference between knowing about Jesus and truly knowing Jesus. One gives you information; the other produces transformation. The goal of the Christian life is not merely to learn more about Christ, but to walk with Him, hear His voice, follow His leading, and become more like Him.

Knowing Christ is not just about what you know—it is about who you are becoming through Him.

We love talking about the attributes of God that comfort us…

His love.
His mercy.
His patience.
His kindness.

And we should.
Those things are BEAUTIFULLY true.

But God is also holy.
Just.
Righteous.
Truthful.

👉 And those attributes are not in competition with one another.

His love is holy love.
His mercy does not cancel His justice.
His patience does not erase His righteousness.

That’s really important because sometimes we’re tempted to build a version of God around the parts of His character that make us feel safest while quietly avoiding the parts that confront us.👀🤦‍♀️

But God does not need to be edited to be good.

He is ALREADY perfectly good exactly as He is.

And the more we know Him, the more we learn not just to appreciate the parts of His character that comfort us, but to trust the parts that correct us too.🙏

Knowing God means letting Him define Himself.

Not through culture.
Not through our preferences.
Not through what feels easiest to accept.

Through who He has revealed Himself to be.🤎✝️
