📚 WHAT AN INCREDIBLE DAY! ☺️
Wow… just WOW! What an incredible turnout for our Back to School Event! Today, because of the generosity and kindness of our community, we were able to serve 147 children with school supplies and even more children with very nice back-to-school clothing! 🎒👕👖👟
This is what happens when a community comes together. ❤️
Our church families, youth, friends, neighbors, local community members, and so many people who simply saw a need and wanted to help came together to make sure these precious kiddos have what they need to start the school year. School supplies were collected, bags were filled, clothing was donated and sorted, and so many people gave their time and energy to make today possible.
And to every single person who donated something — whether it was a backpack, a box of crayons, a new outfit, gently loved clothing, money, your time, or even just a kind word — THANK YOU. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you doesn't seem like enough. Because of you, 147 children walked away today with school supplies they may not otherwise have had. Because of you, children will be able to start school with clothing they can feel good and confident wearing. And because of you, families were reminded that their community cares about them. ❤️
We all know that back-to-school time can be exciting for children, but it can also be a tremendous financial burden for families. There is something so special about being able to take even a little bit of that burden away. Today, we got to watch that happen.
I saw families come through our doors carrying more than just a list of school supplies. Some came in carrying heavy burdens. You could see it on their faces. But as they left, I saw smiles. I saw relief. I saw conversations, laughter, encouragement, and people realizing that they weren't alone.
That's what the Blessing Closet is really about.
We don't just give away clothing, food, school supplies, or other necessities. We want every person who walks through our doors to know that they matter. We want them to feel welcomed, loved, valued, and cared for. We want to be a place where a simple conversation can turn into friendship, where friendship can turn into prayer, and where prayer can point people toward Jesus, our hope. ✝️
Today, our community met physical needs, but you also met something much deeper — the need for kindness, compassion, connection, and hope.
You showed people that they are seen. You showed them that they matter. You showed them that they are loved.
And we saw it today. ❤️
A huge thank-you to everyone who worked behind the scenes, sorted mountains of clothing, organized school supplies, prepared tables, greeted families, helped children, hauled boxes, cleaned up, prayed, encouraged, and simply showed up. You may not realize how much your time and effort mattered, but it mattered tremendously.
And to Edna, Cheryl, Sharon, Debbie, Ashley, Bernie, Zylor, and Ty — thank you for all you did to help make today happen! Zylor, thank you for helping me get the good Jesus tunes going 😂🎶 (probably one of the most important jobs of the day!), and Ty, thank you for fixing my flat tire! 😂❤️
Most importantly, thank you to our entire community for continuing to believe in what the Blessing Closet is trying to do. Thank you for donating. Thank you for sharing. Thank you for volunteering. Thank you for spreading the word. Thank you for caring.
This is your Blessing Closet, too.
Every donation represents someone who cared enough to give. Every volunteer represents someone willing to serve. Every family who walks through our doors represents an opportunity to show kindness and love.
And today, because of all of you, 147 children are a little more prepared to walk through those school doors with confidence. ❤️
