Vision Racing Ministries at Cherokee Speedway 8/29/26

Jesus had a close friend named Lazarus. Lazarus had two sisters and Jesus was close friends with all three of them. The sister's one day sent word to Jesus that Lazarus was sick. Jesus didn't immediately go to him and Lazarus died. When Jesus finally arrived at their house one of the sisters told Jesus if you would have been here our brother would not have died. Then Jesus speaks these words to her.

John 11: 25-26
Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. The one who lives in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?

The sisters believed Jesus could only have healed Lazarus if he had gotten to him before he died. But Jesus waited intentionally before going to Lazarus because he wanted to show them something more. Jesus saw everyone sad and crying and he was moved with compassion and grief also. John 11:35 says Jesus wept. Jesus went on to the grave of his close friend Lazarus, had them open the grave and he commanded Lazarus to come out. Lazarus's life was restored and he walked out alive. Sometimes we want to get upset with Jesus when he doesn't answer or show up in our life in the way we think he should. Sometimes Jesus will delay and answer so he can do something more in our life. As Jesus raised a close friend back to life it pointed to a bigger picture to come. Jesus would be crucified on a cross, taking all our sin and wrong past, present, and future to that cross with him. He forgave every sin. Folks I can't think of anyone else in this world that would do that for me and you. But just like in the above scripture the sisters had a choice to believe in Jesus or get mad at him and walk away. In the same way Jesus gives us freedom of choice. Even though our sins are forgiven we must choose Jesus by asking to be forgiven, asking him to live in us, letting him have control of our life. Jesus by going to the cross, dying, and rising back to life by God's power gives him power over death and sin. He arose back to life and because of that we can too. Unless Jesus returns in our life we will all face a physical death. But if Jesus is our Lord and Savior we will live on. We may die physically but in the next moment we are resurrected to spiritual life in heaven. We live for eternity with Jesus. But I can't leave you without saying for those that don't accept Jesus you will continue on in eternity also. Those that refuse Jesus scripture says will be sent to hell's eternity. Folks we get to choose our eternal destination, but it must be done in this life. Jesus is life, he gives us a way to heaven through himself. The question is do you believe this? Vision Racing Ministries at Cherokee Speedway 8/15/26

The Stick Elliott Memorial was full of excitement leaving several to have a lot of work to do this week to be ready to race again. As we have had weather affect our racing efforts the last few weeks it didn't look too good starting out Saturday. But I give God the credit for a successful night. The rain held off and all our drivers were safe. Life's bumps, curves and slick roadways can leave us tired, frustrated, and feeling like we have no more to give. We get tired and worn down and we just don't know where the next bit of energy or motivation will come from. It can be just trying to get everything in our busy schedule done, a health issue, a money issue or a combination of it all. When those times come we are tempted to pull back and maybe even isolate ourselves from others. But Proverbs 11:25 gives us hope and a promise that there is help. It says.

A generous person will prosper, whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

We can refresh and regain energy, happiness, and joy. This verse says a generous person will prosper. When we think of giving we immediately think of money. Money can be a part of it but there are other ways to give. We all have resources, time, attention and encouragement we can give to some one. It could be just to listen to somebody or send an encouraging message. It doesn't take but a minute to refresh others. Then it says whoever refreshes others will be refreshed. When you give yourself away to refresh someone God sends it back to you. When you give away money, God gives it back, when you give away time God allows things to work out. When I went through cancer there were days I was wore out and was ready to quit. At just the right time two or three text messages would come through and it would be what I needed to be encouraged. We all have that feel good feeling when we help someone. If you need refreshed pass it along, also get alone with God. Many times I have just sat down, me and God, no distractions and I talk with him. Sometimes it takes just a minute and sometimes longer but God always lifts my spirits. Let's face it we all need a good word now and then, why not be that word to someone else? Hope you have a great week.

Vision Racing Ministries at Cherokee Speedway 7/11/26

BRUCE CAMP, one we will always remember.

This past weekend we saw a great fan count, great car count and some close racing action. But it also came with a heavy heart. As many of you have already heard Bruce Camp passed away Saturday morning. Bruce has been race director at many of our local tracks such as Cherokee, Carolina, Harris and others. He has been race director for several of the touring series. He was race director at East Lincoln this year. Bruce was a joy to be around and a good friend. He will be missed. Please keep his family in prayer as they work through this time. As I put Saturday's scripture together I look back at how fitting it is. In making my prayer rounds Saturday I talked with others facing life challenges. From the side effects of the flu, severe cancer, to grieving over a loss of a loved one a lot is going on in our racing family. It's a fight to keep going. Saturday's scripture was from 1 Timothy 6:12 which says.

Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

What are you fighting for? Life is a journey of faith. We have faith in something or someone. Whatever or whoever that is is what you give your all to. The word fight here is not a fist to fist or person to person fight. The word fight in this verse is used to mean effort, commitment, endurance. It means you don't give up, you keep going. We fight for a lot of things. A better life, better job, more money, ect. We push ourselves to the max to get the best if life. But what about your faith in Jesus? Do you think about that kind of faith? Do you fight to keep your faith in Jesus or is spiritual faith even a concern? We are surrounded by so much false truth, false teachings and false beliefs that we are pushed to center on ourselves not Jesus. The faith journey in Jesus is hard, it can be messy and challenging. We fight against our sinful nature and if we start living for Jesus the enemy attacks us to discourage us. But the Bible is our help, it's our encouragement. The Bible gives us truth, blessings, promises and more we can believe in. One thing it says that no one can disagree with is we all will face death. We don't know our time, our day or year but it will happen. Most likely when we least expect it. Everything we accomplish, achieve, or accumulate will be worth nothing at our last breath. We can life live to what we want and at the last breath all we have accumulated means nothing. The things we work for will be given away, sold, spent or forgotten. But the moment you breathe your last breath your faith means more than any amount of possessions, or any amount of money. Giving your life to Jesus and following him the rest of your life is your faith journey. Our fight should be for our faith in Jesus. We live in a world of distraction. So many things try for our attention. We think we have plenty of time. Our trusting Jesus with our life and committing to him will truly be worth it the moment we take our 1st breathe in eternity. Now is the time to make that decision. As we travel through this life on our faith journey it gets us ready for the next season of life. Eternity. We struggle with the question why? Why cancer, why disease, why hurting, violence, etc.? We may not get an answer for all our why's. One reason is we live in a broken world. Sin came in many years ago and everything has been effected by it. It will continue to be effected until Jesus returns. One day Jesus will make the heavens and earth new again, in that day we don't have to worry about sin, death, or sickness. But until that day we fight the good fight of the faith. We pray, we read God's word, we repeat. We live our faith journey waiting for Jesus to come get us. Jesus can come back at any moment, your life may end just as quick. Fight for your faith in Jesus. If you have never asked Jesus to forgive you and save you from your sins your faith journey has not started. Let today be the day

Happy Father's day to all our dad's. Many of us have been blessed by our dad's. Dad is the one who is the hero in our life. A hero is strong by being able to overcome life's challenges, a hero is a leader by leading to the right path of life, and a hero is an example by letting his actions speak for what he stands for. Many of us look at our dad's as a hero. I will say there are some that dad didn't fill that spot and someone else may have been that hero to us. But as I thought about our verse for the weekend it fits perfectly for Father's day weekend. No matter what kind of earthly father we have, we have a heavenly father that is our biggest hero. 2 Peter 3:9 says.

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

We have God as our heavenly father who is strong, leads, and is our best example. In the verse above many have criticized the Bible where it states Jesus will come back one day and there will be final days of earth and life as we know it. Peter as he wrote this verse addresses this same thing in his day also. The first thing we see is about time and God's promise. God has given us many promises in his word. Many have come true already with many to come. God's time table and ours is different. God has always been. He has no beginning and he has no end. We on the other hand had a beginning but we have no end. We will all face physical death at some point, unless we are here when Jesus returns, but physical death is not the end. The moment we take our last breath here will be the moment we take our first breath in eternity. We will continue to live in one of two eternities after life here. We are reminded God will fulfill his promise of sending Jesus back one day, the world as we know it will die away, and Jesus will make heaven and earth new again. Think back, God told of a coming flood that would destroy the earth. It happened. God said he would make a way for us as people to overcome sin and death and restore humanity back to a relationship with himself. He did by sending Jesus to die on a cross, be buried in a grave. But that wasn't the end. Jesus rose from the grave, beat sin and death, was witnessed by people and went back to heaven before their eyes. Jesus himself said I will come back. For so many things the Bible speaks of has come true, with more to come, we can believe it will happen. But it is happening in God's timing. Next the verse tells us he is patient with us not wanting anyone to perish but come to repentance. God could have sent Jesus back a long time ago but if he had none of us would have existed. I'm glad he had waited. God is patient giving us every chance in life to have a relationship with Jesus. Repentance is when we realize we have done wrong (sin) and we are sorry for that sin. We want to make our wrongs right so God sent Jesus to do that for us. Jesus took all sin on himself on the cross and died for it. This gives us the chance to be free from the hold sin has on us, we can be free to talk to God, we can live in his eternity, heaven one day. But for it to come full circle we must choose to accept God's gift. We must choose in this life. There will be no choice after this life. So God lets time go on giving everyone time to make the decision to follow Jesus. When we live for Jesus in this life it prepares us for heaven. As I said earlier there are two eternities. Heaven, the place God created for his believers, his people, and Hell, the place he created for the devil, his angels, and those that don't choose to believe. God's desire is that no one enters Hell's eternity so he waits and gives us every chance. God our heavenly father, our hero, is strong having the power to raise people from the dead, a leader as he leads us through his son Jesus on the right road in life and an example showing us in his word the Bible how to live and please him. We can run through life without taking our eternity seriously. But just like the unexpected on race night when mechanical failure happens or a wreck and our night is over, our life can be over in a minute. Have you made sure your life, your eternity is in Jesus' hands? When we least expect it Jesus will come back or we will breathe our last and eternity will begin. When Jesus is Our Lord and Savior and God is our heavenly father we are headed to heaven's victory lane. Get ready for it, be ready for it, it's coming soon. Thankfully after last night's wild night we have two weeks off to refresh and regroup. Let the Lord help. Get closer to him.
