Happy Mother's Day!
A Mother’s Love
Texts: Luke 1:26–38; John 2:1–11; John 19:25–27
This Sunday we will look at the life of Mary and her relationship with Jesus, not only as the mother of Christ, but as a woman of deep faith, courage, and faithfulness.
Mary’s story reminds us that God often uses ordinary people who are simply willing to trust Him. From the moment the angel appeared to her in Luke 1, Mary demonstrated remarkable faith by saying, “I am the Lord’s servant.” She did not fully understand the road ahead, but she trusted God anyway.
Throughout the Gospels, we see glimpses of Mary’s relationship with Jesus. At the wedding in Cana, she brought a need to Him before anyone else noticed the problem. Her words to the servants still speak powerfully today: “Do whatever He tells you.” What wonderful advice for every believer and every family.
Perhaps the most moving picture of Mary is found at the cross. While many fled in fear, Mary stayed near Jesus in His suffering. Her faithful presence reminds us that real love remains steadfast even during painful seasons.
Mother’s Day brings many emotions into a congregation. Some celebrate joyful memories, while others carry grief, loss, or longing. This message is not only about motherhood, it is about faithfulness, surrender, trust, and staying close to Christ through every season of life.
As we gather this Sunday, may we all be encouraged by Mary’s example to trust God more deeply and follow Jesus more faithfully.
We would love for you and your family to join us for worship this Sunday at Lafayette Street Church.
