As we continue through pride month, we're excited to invite you to a workshop on pronouns, June 24th from 6-7:30. This workshop will be repeated in August, look out for that date coming soon. We'll discuss the theological importance of using correct pronouns, get lots of practice with one another, and learn about this crucial way to care for each person we meet, especially those outside the gender binary.
This year at Annual Conference, we passed super important legislation to move us ever closer to full inclusion in our churches. The text of the resolution is in the photo, but the summary is this: in the Wisconsin conference of the UMC, exclusion based on gender is unacceptable. When we removed the harmful exclusionary language from the Book of Discipline, all we did was remove the harmful language. This resolution provides us with supportive language, outlining in clear language that gender identity is not a barrier to lay or ordained ministry in our churches. Drawing from our baptismal vows and holy scripture, this resolution calls us to oppose discrimination and to work every day to make our churches more welcoming, more just, and more like the kingdom of heaven. We hope you'll take a moment to read the text and to come and join us on June 24th!
