We would like to thank Emily & Jesse Rider for sharing their ministry with the members of St Paul’s in Howards Grove. As FRIENDS Network missionaries in Southeast Asia, they work to create strong personal relationships, learn the native language, and understand cultural barriers of unchurched, unbelieving friends. They create opportunities and events which allow them to gather regularly to study the Bible and share the joy and peace of knowing our Savior Jesus Christ.

Please pray for new opportunities for Emily and Jesse to share the gospel and for continued growth in their community. If you’re interested in supporting this important ministry, please see

Do you ever wonder if the real you belongs in Jesus’ Church? Jesus wanted to bring some truths home in a pointed way to the Pharisees and the disciples. Jesus does that with a woman who was outside of those two groups. Jesus wanted to teach them an important lesson about how those who have been integrated into his Church can help integrate others into his Church.

08/14/2026

The opening lines of the United States Declaration of Independence boldly assert that certain truths are “self-evident”—truths accessible to human reason and widely recognized by observation of the world.

Lutherans, however, note that the most important truths revealed in the Bible are not self-evident at all. In fact...they frequently appear surprising or even contrary to human expectations.

Biblical truth is revealed by God rather than discovered by reason alone. While some truths may seem obvious to human judgment...the truths of the Bible are often unexpected.

Have you ever felt as though you've given everything you had...and nothing came of it? With your relationships, or with work, or even with God? That was how Elijah felt. Yet the LORD came to him to uplift and uphold him in an amazing way. He does the same for us with The Loudest Whisper. Please check out our sermon on 1 Kings 19 from this weekend.

"Isn’t it great that Jesus made leftovers? Why did Jesus make extra? He didn’t have to. If he can do what he did…two small fish and five loaves…he didn’t need to make extra. Those leftovers teach us important lessons."

TuesdayTakeaway

Believers and unbelievers have a different beginning, different priorities, and a different destination. Nevertheless, God has us living together in this world. What should the Christian attitude toward unbelievers be? What should we say and do? Our sermon on Sunday helped us see the tough exchange with sinners, by sinners, and for sinners. May Jesus bless us through these words from Romans 1.
