Deep gratitude to Akaal Purakh Waheguru and heartfelt thanks to Mayor Scott Robertson, the City Council, all city employees, and the City of Selma for standing with the Sikh community.

This historic resolution recognizing the Sikh genocide that began with the June 1984 attack on the Golden Temple is a meaningful step toward truth, justice, dignity, and healing.

The devastation of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, the looting of the Sikh Reference Library—which housed thousands of invaluable historical documents, manuscripts, and religious and historical books dating back four to five centuries—and the reported killing of thousands of Sikh devotees and pilgrims remain painful chapters of Sikh history, followed by decades of violence, suffering, and big losses.

History must be remembered, sufferings must be acknowledged, and the pursuit of justice must never be forgotten.
