Today, the teenagers started with a tea candle, a cup of water and a fork. I lit the candle and told each of them to try to put the flame out only using their fork & water. They were not allowed to move their cup and had to keep their fork close by. They thought the person who was able to put the flame out with the least amount of flicks was the winner but it was actually the opposite.
Carrington won!
The flame represented our fire for God. The fork and water represented the distractions that make our fire for Him go out. Their idea of things that could make their fire go out were: hanging around bad friends, large amounts of time on social media, being a bully, etc. So WE evaluated our lives to see if we have, potentially, "Lost Our Fire for God"
*When our worship starts to feel like a job
*When our church attendance slips
*When we lose our compassion for people
*When our Bible reading slows down
*When wordly things seem more enjoyable
*When our thoughts become fleshly
*When we stop fighting temptation
*When we withdraw from Godly friends
One of them asked, "How do we change that?" My response, "Reverse the above statements"
Being On Fire for God:
*When our worships starts to feel like FREEDOM
*When our church attendance INCREASES
*When we FIND our compassion for people
*When our Bible reading STEPS UP
*When wordly things seem more UNENJOYABLE
*When our thoughts become more GODLY
*When we START fighting temptation
*When we DRAW NEAR to our Godly friends
❤️We are to examine ourselves daily❤️
