MONDAY
Obedience vs. Surrender: There Is a Difference

You have learned obedience. You are moving. You are doing what God said.
But here is the question Week 9 is asking: has your will actually been surrendered?
Because there is a gap between obeying God and wanting what God wants. And that gap is where a lot of commissioned disciples quietly lose ground.

Jesus showed us the pattern in Gethsemane. He did not pretend He had no preference. He named it honestly before the Father. Not as I will.
And then He released it.

That is the difference. Obedience says I will do what You say. Surrender says I want what You want.

Obedience is behavioral. Surrender is interior. And the formation of a disciple is not complete until both are present.

A disciple who obeys without surrendering their will is one hard instruction away from breaking. Their obedience is sustained by willpower. And willpower has a ceiling.
But a disciple whose will has been surrendered carries a different quality of stability entirely. Their obedience is not effortful. It is the natural expression of a will that has been formed into alignment with God's.

That is what the formation process is building. Not just compliance. Alignment.
Are you obeying God with your actions while still holding your will as your own? Drop a 🙋🏾‍♀️ if this hit home today.

FRIDAY
Formation Never Ends And That Is the Good News

You do not graduate from the formation process.
You do not arrive at a place where you are fully formed and the work is done.
And here is why that is the best news you could possibly receive.
Philippians 1:6 says he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion.
He who began it. Not you.

God started this. And He will finish it. The formation process is not sustained by your consistency alone. It is sustained by the commitment of the One who initiated it.
The eight weeks you have walked through are not the whole story. They are a chapter. A significant, foundational chapter. But a chapter.

The furnace will have seasons. The testing will come again in new forms. The obedience will cost new things at new levels.

And every season will be building something the previous one could not yet build.
You are not who you were eight weeks ago. And if you continue to yield to the process, you will not be who you are today eight months from now.

The work continues. The formation deepens. The commission expands.
And God who started all of it is faithful to bring it to completion.
You are a disciple in formation. That is not a season.

That is an identity. Keep going.

Save this post and come back to it when the process feels hard.

THURSDAY- Your Story Is Part of Someone Else's Formation

The furnace you went through was not only for you.
The testing. The seasons of waiting. The costly obedience. The identity that got stripped down and rebuilt. None of that was only for you. Your story is part of someone else's formation.

Revelation 12:11 makes this clear. They overcame by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.

Testimony is not a polished performance. It is the honest account of what God did in the midst of what you went through. And it carries conquering power.
Not because your story is special in a self-promoting way. Because your story carries evidence that God forms people through fire. And that evidence is exactly what someone else needs to hear when they are in their own furnace.

When you tell the honest story of what God did in your formation, the hard parts, the parts where you almost did not make it, the parts where the furnace felt like too much, you give someone else permission to keep going.

Your story says: the furnace does not kill you. I am proof.
That is the commissioned disciple's most powerful tool. Not a platform. Not a program.
A testimony.

Who needs to hear your story today? Go tell it.

WEDNESDAY — EPISODE 38
The Commissioned Life Is a Formed Life in Motion

Here is what the commissioned life looks like from the inside. It is not a dramatic departure from the formation life. It is the formation life in motion. The same practices. The same postures. The same dependence on God. Just now moving outward instead of only inward.

Colossians 2 says it plainly. Walk in Him the same way you received Him. Rooted and built up. Established in faith. Rooted and built up at the same time.

A tree growing taller is also going deeper simultaneously. The height and the roots happen together. That is the commissioned life. The more you move outward in mission, the deeper your roots need to go in Christ.

The commissioned disciple carries the assignment without losing the dependence. They go without forgetting the One who sent them.

Formation does not stop when commission begins. It intensifies.

You are not choosing between being formed and being sent. You are living both at the same time.

Rooted. Moving. Formed. Commissioned.

That is who you are becoming. And that is what all of this has been building.
Share this with a fellow disciple who is learning to walk in both at once.

TUESDAY - The Commissioned Disciple Does Not Go Alone

God does not send you out by yourself. That was never the design.
Luke 10 records that Jesus appointed seventy-two disciples and sent them out two by two. Not individually. Two by two.

That was not a logistical decision. That was a formation decision.
Two by two means accountability. Covering. The ability to catch each other in the blind spots that isolation would miss.

Here is what that means for you. The commission and the community are not separate. They are woven together. The disciple who has been formed in community carries that formation into the mission. They know how to be corrected without collapsing. They know how to sharpen and be sharpened.

The weight of assignment is not meant to be carried alone. Two by two means the burden is shared. The loneliness of leadership is interrupted by the presence of a companion in the work.

If you are moving into your commission isolated, without covering, without someone beside you in the work, you are carrying more than Jesus designed you to carry alone.
The commission is real. The sending is real. And the companion for the journey is part of the design.

Go. But go with someone.

Tag someone God has placed beside you in the mission.

Formation Is Not the Finish Line — It Is the Starting Line

You did not go through the furnace to arrive. You went through the furnace to be sent.Formation is not the destination. It is the preparation.Matthew 28 makes this clear.

Jesus gave the Great Commission to people who had been with Him. People who had walked through the formation of proximity, obedience, and tested identity. And He did not say rest in what you have received.

He said go.Go and make disciples. The entire formation process was always pointing somewhere. Not toward personal wholeness as an end in itself. Toward the capacity to reproduce what was deposited in you.And notice what Jesus anchors the commission to.

All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. You do not go in your own authority. You go in His.That is what formation was building. The character to carry His authority without confusing it for your own.Eight weeks of furnace. Eight weeks of obedience. Eight weeks of tested identity and formed community. This is what it was building toward.Formation was the preparation. The commission is the call. Now go.
