Monday – Job 22:18-19
“Bountiful Blessings Ignored”

“18. Yet he filled their houses with good things: but the counsel of the wicked is far from me. 19. The righteous see it, and are glad: and the innocent laugh them to scorn.”

Don’t forget where your blessings come from. God’s goodness to us who are so undeserving should prompt us to praise our God at all times. Too many of us have our houses full of goods but our hearts empty of God’s grace. It is irreverent and disrespectful to live on the abundance of the Almighty God and not express appreciation to Him for all that He does for us. I don’t ever want to be guilty of ignoring the Lord’s manifold blessings He bestows upon me. Thank you, Jesus, to the highest. I Thank you!

Sunday – Job 19:25
“Jesus; our Redeemer is Alive”

“For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:”

Satan was the injurer of Job's body; Jesus Christ was his Vindicator, the Living One who giveth life. Jesus Christ is the only Redeemer provided for fallen man. The word Goël (next of kin) authorized the right of redeeming a mortgaged estate was established by the law of Moses. Our heavenly inheritance was mortgaged by sin; we are ourselves unable to redeem it; Christ is near of kin to us, the next kinsman that is able to redeem; He has paid our debt, satisfied God's justice for sin, and so has paid off the mortgage and made a new settlement of the inheritance.

“Men Die but we Live Again”

“But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?”

Man is a dying creature. Before death: he wastes away; he is continually wasting, dying daily. Sickness and old age are wasting things to the flesh, the strength, the beauty. In death: he gives up the ghost; the soul leaves the body, and returns to God who gave it, the Father of spirits. After death: Where is he? He is not where he was; his place knows him no more; but he is somewhere. It is a very awful consideration to think where those are that have given up the ghost, and where we shall be when we give it up. It has gone to the world of spirits, gone into eternity, gone to return no more to this world.

Friday – Job 9:4
“Why Fight Against God!”

“He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened himself against him, and hath prospered?”

You cannot produce any instance, from the beginning of the world to this day, of any daring sinner who has hardened himself against God, has stubbornly persisted in rebellion against Him, who did not find God too hard for him and pay dearly for his madness. Apostate angels hardened themselves against God but did not prosper. Wicked men harden themselves against God, dispute His wisdom, disobey His laws, are impenitent for their sins and incorrigible under their afflictions; they reject the offers of His grace, and resist the strivings of His Spirit; they make nothing of His threatening’s. But have they prospered? Can they prosper? No; they are but treasuring up for themselves wrath against the day of wrath.

Thursday – Job 5:6-7
“Brace Yourself, Trouble is on the Way”

“6. Although affliction cometh not forth of the dust, neither doth trouble spring out of the ground; 7. Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward.”

Eliphaz, reminds Job that trouble and affliction are what we expect in this world: Man is brought to trouble, not as man, but as sinful man, as born of a woman. Man is born in sin, and therefore born to trouble. Even those that are born to honor and estate are yet born to trouble in the flesh. In our fallen state it is natural to us to sin, and the natural consequence of sin is affliction. There is nothing in this world we are born to, and can truly call our own, but sin and trouble; both are as the sparks that fly upwards.
