Don’t assume that you belong in the highest place, nothing earns you a spot in heaven. The safest place to be is in the lowest place, utterly and totally dependent on God’s grace and not on anything that you do.

The cross exposed the guilt of Jerusalem, the cowardice of Pilate, the cruelty of Rome, the hatred of all the religious leaders, but also the guilt of every single one of us because it was our sin that put Him on the cross. We can judge Jerusalem but it is only the grace of God that tore down our hard hearts and allowed us to believe.

Are you proclaiming Jesus as Lord on the outside or the inside? It’s not a matter of casual acquaintance, but rather a matter of personal relationship. Being near to Jesus externally is not the same thing as knowing Jesus savingly.

What a kindness, mercy, and grace to show us our sin, our waywardness that has separated us from Him. It’s only through the blood of Jesus Christ that we can draw near to God when we were his enemies in sinning against Him. When you turn back to God from any sin, God is near and close to you because He sees you covered in the righteousness of Christ.

Hypocrisy begins with a heart that learns the truth but doesn’t truly love the truth. Hypocrisy ignores God’s obvious work; it stares at the work of God but still finds something to criticize.

Our salvation came at the greatest cost, the life of God’s one and only son. His perfect blood was shed on our behalf so that you and I could be made righteous and reconciled to God through faith as a gift. Because of that, we can have confidence and hope in Christ!

Repentance has two sides to it: 1) A turning from sin and 2) A turning to God. Only turning from sin is not enough. If you turn from sin without turning to God, all you’re doing is trading one sin for another. It’s only when you actually turn from sin and turn to God that you see real life change and transformation.
