Saint Joseph Melkite Greek-Catholic Church,Scranton Saint Joseph is Scranton's Melkite Greek Catholic Church Melkites are Christians of the ancient Patriarchate of Antioch.

Catholic but not Roman, Byzantine in Tradition, brothers and sisters of the Orthodox East. Our Eparchy of Newton, Massachusetts oversees the entire United States parishes. Founded by Lebanese immigrants in the late 1890s, we are a faith community that has, thank God, withstood many trials and tribulations over the years. Our parishioners hail from the greater Scranton area, and our friends of the parish continue to support us from Albany to Philadelphia and beyond.

Monday at Sacred Heart Cemetery, there will not be a blessing of graves due to the priests being out of town. At 11am the veterans post will be at the adjoining Cathedral Cemetery for salute, address and patriotic songs. Shortly afterwards they proceed to our cemetery approximately 1130 or so.
The cemetery committee and volunteers have the grounds in beautiful condition to honor the deceased. Thank you.
