PETER IN JAIL:

This week we in our Sonshiner KID's ZONE we talked about fear and heard some comforting words that Jesus had to say about how to deal with it. We heard about a man named Peter who was thrown into a very scary place simply because he shared the love of Jesus with others. His name was Peter. Jail is a very scary place, but Peter knew that God was with him and THAT helped him not be afraid. His friends were also praying for him, and that comforted him, too. In Isaiah 41:10, the Bible says, "Do not fear, for I am with you." When we are afraid, we can come to Jesus. He loves us and is with us wherever we are.

This week in our Sonshiner KIDs Sunday School Class, we heard a true story about a man named Elisha. Elisha helped a poor woman pay off a large debt of money that her husband had owed to someone before he passed away. When the man returned for his money and found that the woman was not able to pay him, he became very angry and threatened to take her 2 sons away from her and use them as slaves until the money was paid off!

Elisha could have walked away, but he showed love to the woman and her son by helping her out. Teaming with God, a miracle occurred! We were reminded in our story that God wants us to show love to all people.

This week was also our winter quarter review week! After our story, the children played the game, "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? - Sonshiners Edition" to review our past 12 Bible stories! The game is based off of the television game show of the same name; however, our children played for points instead.

This week in our Sonshiner KIDs Sunday School Class, we talked about kindness and love. We learned about a time when a family showed love to a man named Elisha by building an extra room on top of their house so he would have a place to sleep each time he came to town to share about Jesus! We also talked about practical ways each of us can show love and respect to others each day.

This week in our Sonshiner KIDs Sunday School Class, we talked about kindness. We learned about a time when Jesus helped a man named Bartimaeus who couldn't see and needed help. If he was lucky, sometimes people would toss him a few coins to buy food. But Jesus took time to show kindness to Bartimaeus by actually healing him and helping him to see!

We talked as a group about how blind people in Bible days were often not treated very well, but learned that one day Jesus saw a blind man named Bartimaeus and showed kindness to him. He helped Bartimaeus regain his sight! The Sonshiners discovered that we are being Jesus to others when we show kindness to ALL people around us each day.

JESUS FEEDS THE 5000

This week, our Sonshiners heard about another miracle of Jesus! We heard about a time when Jesus used a young boy's small lunch (5 loaves of bread and 2 small fish) to feed over 5000 hungry people! And.... after everyone ate, there were 12 baskets of leftover food! That was a real miracle!

Our Bible verse this week was: Nothing is impossible with God. The children discovered that there are many things we can't do with our own power. But when we team us with Jesus, and our goal is according to His will, He can give us the power we need to help us with the struggles we face on our own!

We also learned that we may think what we have to offer to Jesus is small, but God can turn our small gifts into something BIG and use it to advance His kingdom! Just look at what He did with a young boy's small lunch. 2 small fish and 5 small biscuits fed 5000 people!!

This week we learned about 4 friends that were willing to help their best friend see Jesus. Their friend was not able to walk, and they knew that Jesus had the power to heal him. When they got to the house that Jesus was staying in, it was too crowded with people to get their friend into the house to see Jesus! But they didn't give up. They got to the top of the house, made a hole in the roof, and lowered their friend down to Him! We learned that a good friend is willing to be a friend to others during both the good times, and the challenging times!

Next week we will hear about a time when Jesus fed over 5000 people with a very small lunch. Jesus turned 2 small fish and 5 loaves of bread into enough food to feed a very large hungry crowd. We will discover that nothing is impossible with God!
