ABRAM AND LOT

This past week in the Sonshiner KID's ZONE the children heard a true story about 2 men -- Abram and Lot. In our lesson, the children discovered that God does not want us to be selfish. He wants us to always put the needs of others first. Putting the needs of others first is one way we can show love to those around us.

NOTE: If your child is between the ages of 5 and 5th grade, we would love to have him/her join our class! It is a wonderful place for your child to learn more about Jesus as well as how they can apply the Bible to real-life situations in their life.

While your child makes friends and learns about Jesus, you can join one of our adult Life Groups and learn about the Bible as well! Our class starts at 9:15 and ends at 10:25 before the morning Worship Service.

THE PRODIGAL SON

This past week in the Sunshine’s KID’s 9:30 Sunday school class, the children heard the famous story of the Prodigal Son.

In this Bible story, a younger son asks his father for his share of the family's money early. He takes the money, leaves home, and wastes it all on silly choices and wild parties! Soon, all his money is gone, a food shortage hits the land, and he becomes very hungry. He has no choice but to take a job feeding messy pigs. He realizes he made a huge mistake. He decides to walk back home, hoping his dad will let him work as a helper.

But while the son is still far away, his father sees him coming! Instead of being angry, the father runs as fast as he can to hug and kiss his son. He completely forgives him and throws a massive party because his son who was "lost" is now found!

Jesus told this story to show us what God is like. God is our loving Heavenly Father. Sometimes we are like the son when we make poor choices and turn away from Him. But God promises to always welcome us back with open arms when we say sorry. The Bible even says that when we turn back to God, all of heaven throws a giant celebration!

NAAMAN
This week in our Sonshiners Sunday school Zoom class we learned about a man named Naaman. Naaman was a leader with lots of power and control. He was in charge of an army! But when he got an illness called leprosy, he was powerless by himself to defeat it. But with the help of friends, Naaman was led to a cure! I decided to name our story, "7 Dunks In Muddy Water"! Naaman was not the friendliest person in the world. He had many people that had a hard time getting along with him. However, several people game together to show kindness and help him out when he was sick. They were following the "Golden Rule." The Golden Rule is what many have called the Bible verse that says, "Do to others the way you want them to do to you."

God wants us to show kindness to everyone - even those that are not always kind you you.

JESUS HEALS THE CENTURION’S FRIEND

This week in our Sonshiners Sunday school class, we talked about the qualities of good friends, and compared them to the qualities of Jesus. We heard a Bible story about a caring centurion (Roman leader) that tried to help his sick servant friend, and how the centurion called on our Friend Jesus to help him. SAMUEL
Does God speak to us today? That was a question we explored this week in our Sonshiners Sunday School class. We heard the true story about a boy named Samuel that was awakened in the middle of the night by God who spoke to him! Samuel listened to God's voice and obeyed Him.

We discovered that God DOES still speak to us today; however, not in the same way He spoke to Samuel. Sometimes God speaks to us through people (like our Sunday school teachers, pastors, parents, etc.). He also speaks to us through the Bible. All the words in the Bible were written by God and those who followed Him. And God also speaks to us through our conscience.

We learned that sometimes God helps us know when we have done something right and when we are about to do something wrong. God speaks to us today, but are we listening?�
