For the next year, we'll be journeying through a sermon series focused on Jesus’ teachings in the Gospel of Matthew, beginning with the Sermon on the Mount.

Jesus' last words to the apostles were to “Go and make disciples… teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” What has Jesus commanded? Join us at 10am this Sunday at New Traditions School we unpack that, starting with the Beatitudes. There's a parking lot, activities for kids & youth, and coffee & treats! Hope to see you there.

Since the beginning, humans were created to live in community. When Jesus invites us to follow Him, He calls us into a family of brothers and sisters where we are known, loved, and then, empowered to share the love of God to those around us. That's why we facilitate Citizens Communities. We meet in groups of 8-15 people, share from our hearts, pray, and help one another follow Jesus more closely.

We've started a new sermon series on the teachings of Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew, beginning with the Sermon on the Mount. As usual, we'll be gathering at New Traditions School at 10 am. There's a parking lot, activities for kids & youth, and coffee & treats!

And if you are newer to the Citizens community, we'll be having a Welcome Lunch this Sunday, August 30th. This is a time where you can hear from our leaders about our church’s vision, story, and distinctives and ask questions. We’ll gather at a nearby restaurant from noon to 1 pm, immediately following the Sunday gathering, and lunch is on us! Join us this Sunday.

This year, Citizens is hosting our second annual Men's overnight retreat from October 23-24 (Friday night to Saturday afternoon)! Citizens Men will gather at a retreat center in the beautiful Marin Headlands, just 20 minutes from SF and steps away from Rodeo Beach.

We're excited to have a guest speaker this year, who will help participants dive deeper into what it means to be men of God. The goal is to have a balance of teaching, small group discussion, play, and solitude time. Dinner, breakfast and lunch will be provided! Sign up before September 1.

This Sunday, we're excited to return to our usual gathering space at New Traditions. We'll gather at 10am for our usual flow of liturgy. There's a parking lot, activities for kids & youth, and coffee & treats!

After our gathering, we'll have a special feast together as we celebrate Citizens' 12th anniversary! We celebrate these 12 years of God's faithful work, crafting this community into a spiritual home for the questioning, lonely, and displaced in order that we all might find our home in Jesus. There will be delicious catered food, desserts, and good company. We hope to see you there!

As the summer comes to a close, our final summer event will be a Game Night this Saturday, August 22nd at 6:30pm.

Our resident board game buffs, Hamilton, Josh, Tofe, and Shane, will host a fun evening of board games at our Inner Sunset office. While we won't have childcare, there will be games available for our kiddos as well! Pizza will be provided! So bring a friend and join us! 🎲

This Sunday, we're having a field day at Rossi Park in the Inner Richmond at 10am.

We're taking a pause from our usual gatherings to gather together to play kickball and other games and to enjoy some coffee and donuts, for those of us less sporty! It'll be a fun time of fellowship for our whole church. While there won't be childcare, there's a nearby playground for your little ones to play. Hope to see you there!

Jesus invites us to live life in a community where we are known, loved, and empowered to extend the love of God to those around us. That's why, as we close out the summer, we, as a church will be resuming our rhythm of facilitating Citizens Communities (CCs) – groups of 8 to 15 individuals who commit to living as family, servants, and missionaries for a school year.

We'll be opening up registrations for CCs this week, so keep a look out for the sign up link!

Every summer, New Traditions School undergoes a deep cleaning for a month, so we’ve been gathering at the Jewish Community Center at California & Presidio for the past three Sundays. We'll gather for our final Sunday at JCC this week.

We'll be meeting at 10 am, and the flow of our gatherings there will feel the same as our usual weekly liturgy. There'll be a parking garage, activities for kids & youth, and coffee & treats. Find more details on our website calendar: citizenssf.com/calendar

🔥 Mike and Michelle will be hosting a Backyard Bonfire night this Saturday, August 8th at 7pm. Join us and invite a friend for an evening with a toasty fire, roasting s'mores, plenty of seating, and good company.

Outside Lands will be happening nearby, so plan ahead and consider taking the bus or taking a lyft/uber!
