Puente Pal T-Shirt Dolls

Puente Pal T-Shirt Dolls Puente Pals are created by people -- just regular people.

We have templates and instructions available, but what is most important is to have dolls that migrant children can carry with them and use as comfort and pillows as they travel to their new life.

Last Sunday, we had so many friends to help prep and prime the Puente Pal Doll Workshop & Craft Room. This Sunday after worship, we will put on the new color of paint. We could use extra sets of hands!

Puente Pals was invited to conduct workshops for a special meeting of Diakonia: "I was a stranger and you welcomed me" Matthew 25:35. The DOVE participants stayed at La Posada Providencia in San Benito, TX.

Attendees visited sites around Brownsville and the Rio Grande Valley that serve migrants. During their days they had presentations from service agencies. In the evening, to wind down, everyone shared a meal together and then enjoyed some creative time making Puente Pal dolls. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday everyone shared their joy and love in making over 50 Pals.

The Diakonia participants worked together with current residents at La Posada Providencia. In all over 50 Pals were created. Every child staying at La Posada received one and 46 more were ready to be given to migrant children who make their way across the border.

5 YEARS• We didn’t know what the impact would be. We didn’t know we’d still be making dolls 5 years later as the need still exists. We were just doing what we could with what we had and still are today. None of it is possible without your support and the love you pour into every doll. More than 1000 dolls distributed over the years and so many more children still to receive one in the future. We will be celebrating with on July 14 hosting a hospitality table. Come join us! Come celebrate! 🎉 5️⃣🎉

5 YEARS! We’re still doing what we can with what we have.

Thank you! Thank you for following, thank you for your donations, thank you for spending Sundays with us, thank you for having us show your hobby group our mission and work. Whatever the way you found us or support us over the years thank you! It’s such a blessing to us but it’s even more of a blessing to each child who receives a doll. However, none of it is possible without our village of pal makers who work with love in their hearts and threads in their hands to make each doll.

Below is a throwback to just the start of our work. We were blessed with this interview for the news and we had no idea the impact we would make.

🚩🚩🚩Calling all Volunteers for our Airport Outreach !🚩🚩🚩 All shifts are available, and we welcome group volunteers like civic and faith-based groups. Our volunteers greet families as they arrive, giving them a backpack with travel snacks and necessary items. Then, they explain what will happen in security and their route. Many have never flown before and are grateful for a kind word and a little help. We need you if you speak a second or third language! Please like and share and sign up on our website to volunteer today!

Puente Pal Dolls

August 29, 2019. Update. Gentle Ones, you have responded. About 300 Puente Pals have found homes since the mission began with our first dolls just two months ago. And we keep sewing, because the children keep coming to us. Over the summer the need was so great that we held 2 events in Travis Park to distribute snacks and Puente Pals. This week there are fewer children coming through San Antonio, so we have been giving 20 to 30 per night at the shelter. We will keep doing this as long as we have enough for every child.

July 14, 2019. We have all heard the stories from the border of children in danger, and have thought “is there something I can do?” My husband Ralph and I had the opportunity to visit a facility in Brownsville, Texas on the border with Mexico. Our guides and hosts were Mike and Cindy Andrade Johnson. They were preparing families to begin the long bus ride from the deepest part of South Texas to new homes all over the country.

We looked at the wonderful supplies the families were given and were grateful to the volunteers. But, we have traveled with children. The trip goes much more smoothly if we can help them to get comfortable in a seat with a beloved toy and cozy pillow.
