In Matthew 16: 13-20 Jesus asks the disciples “Who do you say I am?” Peter answers, “You are the Messiah, the son of the living God.” On Sunday we’ll talk about how our personal experiences often shape our understanding of who Jesus is. We may not be able to describe all that Jesus is but we can all point to places in our lives where he’s been. I’ll be looking for you in church and until then may you walk in God’s grace and peace.

In Matthew 15: 21-28 a Canaanite woman comes to Jesus asking him to heal her daughter. At first Jesus ignores her because the woman is a Gentile, an “outsider.” Sometimes we are confronted with the same dilemma. God places people in our path who are very different from us and gives us the opportunity to respond to their needs. The right response is not always the easy response. We’ll dig deeper into this on Sunday and until then may you walk in God’s grace and peace.

It’s back-to-school time for our youth so this Sunday Aug. 16th we’ll have a Blessing of the Backpacks during the service. Just bring your your youth and their backpacks to church and we’ll ask God’s blessing upon them as they begin a new school year. Hope to see you Sunday! - Brent

When Jesus walks on the water in Matthew 14: 22-33 it’s Peter who leaves the comfort of the boat and tries to walk on the water towards Jesus. We praise Peter for his faith but what about the disciples who stayed in the boat? There are times we need to step out in faith and take a risk like Peter but there are also times when we need to stay in the boat. We’ll talk more about this on Sunday and until then may you walk in God’s grace and peace. - Brent

When Jesus fed the 5,000 he wasn’t just feeding hungry people. He was also showing us something about God’s abundance and how our small offerings can be multiplied when we place them in God’s hands. This Sunday we’ll be talking about those things and about how different the world looks when we look through the eyes of Jesus. Until then may you walk in God’s grace and peace. - Brent
