Covenant Baptist Church of Garden Ridge

Covenant Baptist Church of Garden Ridge Covenant Baptist Church is a contemplative Christian community in San Antonio (Garden Ridge), Texas. We are a quiet, gentle, thoughtful congregation.

We are located on five acres "in the woods" of San Antonio. We have prayer paths and a labyrinth where people walk and pray. We have a cozy, simple room surrounded by windows where people gather and worship.

riders, all 40 of them plus their support people and uniformed officers, stopped by for a little break, some water and fruit, and our facilities. This is our third year to host the riders who support our wounded veterans. We are happy to be a small part of that.

After Easter breakfast and worshiping, there was Easter egg hunting, and piñata-smacking. Not pictured but key to the whole thing are teenagers who take care of the small ones and hide the eggs. They rock.

This was our benediction last night at Ash Wednesday service. Let it be our goal for Lent.

As you leave this place, when you meet anger, speak with love. When you meet fear, speak with Hope. When you meet pain, speak with gentleness. But no matter what, speak this good news. For the good news of the gospel is love and justice for all. It is joy that surprises, and nonviolence that transforms. The good news of the gospel is alive in the world, so go forth speaking. For if you won’t, then who will? Thanks be to God for this good, good news. Amen

Burning the palms from Palm Sunday for ashes for Ash Wednesday. I’ve been doing this every year since right after we built our building. There’s a molecule of ash in the bottle from every one of those years. Those palms were touched by every child who participated in the march of the palms on every Palm Sunday.

We’re replacing the tables that we use for potlucks and meetings. There is old as the church you’ll see some pictures that show how they’re splitting on the top. They’ll be replaced by long tables rather than round ones cause I think that the rolling is what’s cracking the table. And while I’m here waiting, I decided to show you some pictures in case you’re one of those people that follows us from afar. Things are different. Things are the same.
