Located approximately 60 km from Lilongwe City Centre in Malawi, Dzaleka Refugee Camp is home to thousands of refugees who have fled conflict and instability in countries such as the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Rwanda, and Burundi, as well as Eritrea and Somalia.

Within the camp live men, women, and children carrying stories of loss, displacement, resilience, and hope. Many face ongoing challenges, including trauma, poverty, and limited access to essential resources. Yet, even in the midst of hardship, God is at work.

Our Ministry
Nico and Vicky serve in Dzaleka as part of the Catalyst Team with Ethnos Movement International (EMI). Their ministry is based at Neema House, a rental premises inside the camp that functions as a place of discipleship, care, creativity, prayer, and practical support.

In partnership with the Dzaleka Christian Churches Union (DCCU)—the body overseeing many of the Christian churches within the camp—they work to strengthen church leadership, disciple believers, and extend Christ’s compassion in tangible ways.

Key Areas of Focus

Men’s Ministry
This ministry focuses on pastoral care, leadership development, and biblical discipleship for church leaders within the camp. With over 160 rural churches represented, many pastors have not received formal theological training. Through structured discipleship programs and personal mentoring, leaders are strengthened spiritually and equipped to shepherd their congregations faithfully—many of whom are themselves navigating trauma and displacement.

Women’s Ministry – Creating with Christ
Women are ministered to through discipleship and healing art. The “Creating with Christ” initiative integrates trauma care, biblical reflection, and creative expression. Through guided sessions, women process pain, surrender their stories to God, and transform what once represented brokenness into expressions of healing and truth. These gatherings help restore dignity, identity, and hope.

Kindle is a response to the longing of Jesus. A compassionate reply to the issues of our day. With confident hope, we pray, “Lord send us,” trusting that the remedy for distress in our world is a community living on God-given assignment, filled with the power of Holy Spirit, and the tender heart of Jesus.

Kindle is a diverse community that activates the dreams that Jesus has planted in each person’s heart by helping discover identity, discern calling, and empower obedience.

Sparks fly when people gather with hearts and hands ready to be sent into the harvest. God is doing something new and authentic among this group. We call it ‘Kindle’ because we have been ignited by Jesus or are desperate to become lit.

The Kindle gatherings range from pool parties and fellowships to family gatherings in homes to Wildfire Connect gatherings for encouragement, service, and fellowship. We will have more info coming on the fall gathering times soon!

HeavenSent was formed in 2017 by Laura Stanford. Laura's friend, Lynn, passed away in 2017, and one of Lynn's dreams was to provide free greeting cards to people in retirement homes. Inspired by her friend's dream, Laura founded HeavenSent here in Converse, Texas. Through that ministry, Laura provides greeting cards to a local retirement center which residents can access at no cost. Providing the greeting cards creates an opportunity for connection as the people who use them can more easily write to friends and family. Laura has also been able to establish relationships with residents she serves, offering the residents another connection to the world beyond their walls.

Laura is also currently serving on the board for Judson ISD. Please pray for Laura as she serves the community in multiple ways, connecting with people and loving them right where they are. To learn more about HeavenSent, contact Laura at the email above.

Pastor Norma Quintero leads El Templo Cristiano, a historic Assemblies of God (AG) church in the 78207-zip code of San Antonio. El Templo Cristiano originally opened in April 1918 and is the first registered Spanish-speaking AG congregation in the United States.

"As a survivor of s*xual abuse as a young girl, Quintero realized how much she had in common with the women on her block who were having to make hard decisions to provide for their families. She took time to be present and listen to the countless stories of abuse, and Quintero recognized these women are moms trying to feed their kids and keep a roof over their heads. They are women with hopes and dreams. They are friends—they are family.

'People don’t just want empathy,' Quintero says. 'They want to know ‘Hey, I’ve been there too! And we can get through this together.’ That’s what I provide as a pastor here. I want to be a voice for those whose voices aren’t heard. Because I know what it’s like to not be heard.'" - Echoes Magazine

El Templo Cristiano serves hundreds of people faithfully each month and meets the practical needs of the community with a food pantry on Tuesdays (that will resume in September). "Serving the Lord and building meaningful relationships with the people in our community is a blessing. We thank God for the opportunity to be His hands and feet. God is good all the time! God bless you all."

El Templo will be hosting a back to school event with free backpacks and supplies today at 10 am at the church. Check out the information in the picture to get more information. To learn more about El Templo or to find out how you can volunteer with them, please reach out to Pastor Norma. Along the Way is a testimony podcast ministry rooted in Revelation 12:11:

"They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony. They did not love their life, even to death."

Through real, unscripted conversations. Along the Way is a reminder that no story is too broken, too ordinary, or too far gone for the redemptive power of God.

"I specialize in video testimonials and an emerging photographer. I’m proud of all my work because I’m able to show others how God sees them through the lens. Once people know who they are in Christ Jesus, they have the potential to do anything they set their minds to." - Christian Lopez-Cordova in Voyage San Antonio interview

Christian has recorded 8 new episodes of his podcast and looks forward to releasing them soon. If anyone is interested in hoping on the podcast they can reach out to Christian at 210-204-9202 or email at [email protected]. To see some of his previous episodes, check out the link in our bio. The Vintage Barn is a place of fellowship, hospitality, healing, and hope. Based on the promises in Isaiah 61:1-2, the vision that Robert and Julia Welch have for the Vintage Barn is to welcome people into the presence of the Lord Jesus, fellowship over shared meals, worship the Lord with praise and singing and cultivate an atmosphere of waiting on the Lord together through prayer.

Whether you are looking for decorations for your home, reclaimed wood creations, a quiet place to read, or community that feels like home, the Vintage Barn warmly welcomes anyone with the love of Jesus and the joy of the Lord. Robert and Julia model what it looks like to submit their business to God and to work alongside the Father as they seek His heart for the people they interact with each day.

Check out the Vintage Barn at 29102 US 281 in Bulverde Tuesday-Saturday from 10 am- 5 pm or contact Robert to learn more about what all is happening at the Vintage Barn.

T.H.U.G.G.I.N. For Christ Ministries, founded by Mashaun Hirschler, was created to address the challenges many young men face during the transition into adulthood. Without stable housing, mentorship, and guidance, these challenges can often lead to cycles of instability that impact education, employment, and long-term opportunity.

By walking alongside participants during critical stages of life, we help young men rebuild stability, strengthen responsibility, and move toward productive futures.

Many programs focus on short-term assistance. Our approach focuses on long-term transformation. At T.H.U.G.G.I.N. For Christ, we address the real barriers that prevent young men from moving forward. Our program combines mentorship, practical support, workforce development, and faith-centered guidance to help participants build stability across every area of life.

Young men in our program receive support in recovering identification documents, strengthening literacy and education, accessing employment opportunities, and navigating the justice system when needed.

By combining structure, mentorship, and faith centered accountability, we help young men develop the tools necessary to build stable and meaningful futures.

T.H.U.G.G.I.N. For Christ serves young men ages 18 to 24 who are navigating difficult life transitions.

Many of the young men entering our program are:

• Aging out of foster care

• Experiencing homelessness or housing instability

• Coming from dysfunctional family environments

• Facing their first involvement with the justice system

• Seeking structure, mentorship, and direction

Our goal is to interrupt the cycle that often leads from family instability to incarceration.

Mashaun has also written a book, I Was There: From Damnation to Salvation. This book is for readers who believe in second chances, hard truths, and the possibility of change even when the odds are stacked against you.

To read more about what all T.H.U.G.G.I.N. For Christ does, please check out their website in our link in our bio. You can also find Mashaun's book at the links as well.

Randi is a survivor of many years of depression and instability in the area of mental health. As she emerged with a sense of balance and sought to reintegrate into daily life, Randi found that she faced a whole new set of challenges created by the time lost in the fog.

In response to the compassionate call of Christ in her heart towards those with a similar struggle, she is starting a new ministry to raise awareness of the unique struggles of those who come out of mental health crisis and are faced with the challenges that emerge during the time of surviving the crisis.

Randi has already started writing and will be publishing a blog soon, and she also desires to advocate within state and healthcare systems for better access to transitional resources for this population. She is still seeking the Lord for a name for the mission.
