Sister Nora Ruiz renews her Temporary Vows at Saint Theresa's Church in San Benito, in South Texas

On May 13th Sister Nora renewed her temporary vows for two years. Four Sisters traveled from the Motherhouse in San Antonio, for the simple ceremony. Sisters who attended were Sister Bernie Barrett, Congregational Leader, Sister Loretta Armand, Formation Director and Sisters Geraldine Klein and Miriam Mitchell. Also attending the celebration was Sister Therese Cunningham with whom Sister Nora ministers at La Posada Providencia in San Benito.
After the Mass at which Sister Nora renewed her vows, the Church parish sponsored a lovely breakfast reception for all who were in attendance. We pray that, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit and God's graces, Sister Nora will pronounce her Permanent Commitment as a Sister of the Holy Spirit and Mary Immaculate (Final Vows), two years from now. We ask all our friends and followers to hold Sister Nora in your prayers during the next two years🙏🙏

Socially Responsible Investment Coalition (SRIC)
2026 Citizen Advocate Excellence Award

On April 28th. Sister Veronica Cahill was celebrated as the recipient of SRIC’s Citizen Advocate Excellence Award. Her deep commitment to faith in action and her belief in the power of responsible investment have helped shape SRIC into the strong and hopeful voice it is today. Over the years she has generously shared her time, wisdom and leadership with SRIC especially during her service as SRIC’s Board chair. In her acceptance of this award, Sr. Veronica shared that “this award is a testament to the power of dreams, dedication, and the unwavering support of incredible religious congregations as well as justice-seeking women and men. We have been part of the push for social justice and as I stand here today, I am reminded of the power of perseverance and the importance of staying true to one’s passion. Let us continue to challenge the status quo and use our woman-power and man-power to create meaningful and empowering change. Let us embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. Let us surround ourselves with people who uplift and inspire…so we may continue to impact the San Antonio community, our state, our nation and our world.”
At this SRIC gathering the Sisters of the Holy Spirit and Mary Immaculate were also honored for their faithful partnership and lasting support. From the early beginnings, the Sisters have been part of this journey with their dedication to shareholder advocacy and standing with those who are marginalized reflecting a heartfelt commitment to justice, peace and care for our common home.
Several of the Sisters of the Holy Spirit were present in the name of the Community, and to celebrate Sister Veronica's honor and to represent all of the Sisters who, over the years, have worked for peace and justice through SRIC.

As we begin the Season of Lent we are called to take the Gospel into our hearts more deeply as we follow in the footsteps of Jesus - we are especially called to reach out to those most need. In his homily recently, the priest who celebrated our Sunday Liturgy, challenged all of us. His message: "The Gospel takes away forever our right to discriminate." Here two of our Sisters are doing what they can to take that message seriously. Sister Christina Mitchell caring for God's little ones in Zambia and Sister Nora Ruiz ministering at a refugee center in South Texas.

When the disciples asked Jesus, "where do you live" Jesus response was "come and see".
On March 28 we will host a "Come and See" at Holy Spirit Convent for Catholic women, between the ages of 18 and 45. They will have an opportunity to learn what it means to dedicate your life to God as a Sister of the Holy Spirit and Mary Immaculate.
This will be a one-day retreat experience - a day of prayer, reflection and sharing with the Sisters and among the ladies gathered to begin to learn about Religious Life.
