Our world is occupied by two opposing spirits -- the Holy Spirit of God and the unholy spirits of Satan. The Holy Spirit brings forth righteousness and goodness in us; the evil spirits of darkness work to hinder and oppose the good work of God in us. How do these spirits operate? What are the tell-tale signs that they could be hindering us in our journey? Now is the time to expose them and to cause them to flee!

Personally, I find no comfort in uncertainty. I face the wild waters of the future and cannot launch my eternal soul on a raft of guesswork and opinion. Like Paul, however, I can say “I know whom I have believed” (2 Tim 1:12). The apostles never modified the gospel to avoid offending people and to match accepted ideas of the day. Nor did they take the bits of the gospel that people liked and preach those only. They preached an uncompromising, full-blooded truth. There really was such a thing as the “offence of the Cross”. The Cross is an ultimatum, a call to rebels to lay down their arms. God does not adapt to human opinion nor consult with the corrupted minds of sinful men. Paul did not enter into dialogue to find some common ground of “interfaith”- agreement. There was no agreement. The Cross of Christ stood out plainly against the sky for Greeks and Jews alike. It towers today. We kneel at its foot. Hallelujah for the cross, it shall never suffer loss.
