Appearance carries a lot of weight in our culture, but it carries no weight with God. When Samuel saw Eliab, he assumed he looked like the kind of man God would choose. The Lord corrected him. God was looking beyond what Samuel could see.

He still does.

God isn't won over by an image, a polished appearance, or the approval of others. He sees what is beneath all of it: the motives, desires, loyalties, and condition of the heart.

So the better question is not, “How do I look to people," but “Is my heart pleasing to God?”

A hard diagnosis. A job change. Tension at home. An unexpected bill. A prayer that still hasn’t been answered. Not knowing what comes next.

There’s a lot that can shake our confidence.

But the resurrection gives us something steady to stand on. Jesus is ALIVE; He is still reigning, and our hope is secure in Him even when life feels uncertain.

THAT'S the kind of confidence we can carry into today.

We may not understand His ways, but we can trust His wisdom. We may not see His purpose, but we can trust His character. We may not know what comes next, but we can entrust ourselves to the One who does.

Suffering can drive us toward fear, bitterness, and control... or it can bring us to open hands before the Lord.

In the hands of God, suffering can become a place where surrender deepens and trust grows.

We want to keep growing in a true, biblical understanding of who He is, not just knowing more ABOUT God, but actually knowing HIM more deeply.

What looks like a detour to us is never outside the providence of God. We see the road directly in front of us. God sees the whole journey. He knows what He is accomplishing, where He is leading, and how every step fits within His purposes.

Joseph could not see how betrayal, slavery, and prison would become part of God’s plan to preserve many lives. But looking back, he could say, “You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.”

The road may not look the way you expected, but that doesn’t mean God has lost His way.

If He is truly all-knowing, then we can trust His Word when we don’t understand what He is doing. If He is truly all-powerful, then obedience is never wasted. If He is truly present, then even when it feels like the floor has dropped out beneath us, we are not abandoned.

God is our refuge. Our strength. Our fortress. And because He doesn't move, we don’t have to be ruled by everything that does.

Children’s ministry is more than keeping little ones busy while adults worship. It's the church faithfully teaching the next generation who God is, what He has done, and why His Word can be trusted.

Every lesson taught, prayer prayed, and Scripture memorized is an opportunity to point a child to Christ. We are grateful for the leaders and families who help make that discipleship possible each week.

When everything around us feels uncertain, remember that God hasn't changed. He's still our refuge and our strength. He's still present and still sovereign.

So when life feels unsteady, don’t just rehearse the problem. Rehearse what is true about God.

Read Psalm 46. Pray through it. Sit with it.

The world may shake, but our foundation in Christ does not.
