First Congregational Church, Salt Lake City First Congregational Church Salt Lake City We were the first Protestant Christian church in Salt Lake City, with our first services in 1865.

We continue to emphasize the classic Congregational Way of faith, freedom, and fellowship. We do not claim to have all the answers or even to know all the questions, but we pledge to walk with you in your search for God's love and wisdom.

"Some Debt is Better"

What if God is asking you to let go—not because you’ll have less, but because you’ll have more of Him? 💙

In this powerful reflection, we hear the story of Enoch and his evening walks with God. Their walks became longer and longer until one evening, God told Enoch that he was closer to His home than his own.

What a beautiful picture of faith: the closer we walk with God, the more we may find ourselves willing to leave behind what once felt familiar.

🌿 Let go.
🙏 Trust.
🚶 Keep walking with God.

Watch the reel and reflect with us: What is God inviting you to let go of so you can draw closer to Him?

We’re better when we grow together! 🌱💜

Every act of love, every step of growth, and every opportunity to serve can make a difference. At First Congregational Church, we’re building a community where faith inspires us to care for one another and make a positive impact together.

❤️ LOVE — care for one another.
🌱 GROW — deepen your faith.
🤲 SERVE — make a difference.
💜 TOGETHER — because we’re stronger as a community.

Ready to be part of something meaningful? Come connect, grow, and serve with us!

What if your toughest moments are making you more like who you’re meant to be?

In this message, Pastor Doug walks through how trouble and pressure produce perseverance, and perseverance forms real character. And when grace and kindness feel like normal, hope shows up naturally.

God’s love, given through the Holy Spirit, doesn’t just comfort us—it changes us, and it overcomes the brokenness we see.

Where do you need hope this week? Tell us in the comments, and tag someone who encourages you.

🌿 Lay Leadership Retreat

Leadership is more meaningful when we don’t walk the journey alone.

Our Lay Leadership Retreat gave us an opportunity to pause, reconnect, and prepare for the season ahead. Together, we gathered in faith, connected with one another, and explored how we can lead with compassion, purpose, and a heart for service.

Gather. Connect. Lead.

Because when we serve together, we strengthen our church and our community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and brought their ideas, energy, and commitment to the morning. We are grateful for the many ways our lay leaders help shape and support the life and ministry of First Congregational Church.

🥬🏆 FCC Wins the Golden Celery Award—Again!

We did it again! First Congregational Church has once again won the Golden Celery Competition at Crossroads Urban Center!

This year, FCC donated an incredible 102 pounds of food per person, more than double last year’s 48 pounds per person!

On Sunday, August 23, Crossroads Urban Center presented us with the Golden Celery Award during our worship service.

Winning is fun, but the real victory is helping provide much-needed food and resources for our neighbors. đź’š

What if your kindness is someone’s hope today?

Kindness is how we change the world—through real people, in real community, living out real purpose. It looks like a text, a meal, a prayer, or simply showing up when it matters.

Who’s one person you can encourage today? Tag them below and tell them why they matter.
