This will be of great benefit to area citizens who especially need transportation to jobs from Salem and the surrounding area. This was one of Deacon Sally’s greatest wishes and one she had tried to facilitate a few years ago.
ANNOUNCEMENT:
The Chamber of Commerce Southern New Jersey (CCSNJ), alongside the South Jersey Transportation Authority (SJTA), announced the launch of SJ Connects, a free regional shuttle service operating across Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem counties.
The new transit pilot provides residents with free, ADA-compliant transportation to employment centers, educational campuses, healthcare facilities, and NJ TRANSIT hubs.
The SJ Connects Initiative at a Glance
Program Type: Free, 18 to 24-month pilot program.
Funding: Backed by a $5 million commitment from NJ TRANSIT to fund the bus fleet, driver salaries, and infrastructure.
Counties Served: Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem.
Destinations: Connects the regional "Eds and Meds" corridor, retail destinations, and workforce training opportunities
