Believe it or not, Advent isn't far away.... See below for a quick, but intentional way of remembering and reflecting during this season. You can find Forward Movement on Facebook, or use to link below to sign up for daily emails.

AdventWord 2026
Forward Movement has announced the 2026 reflection words for AdventWord, an inspirational online Advent calendar featuring a daily prompt word selected from the Sunday Lectionary readings.

As we await the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, AdventWord inspires followers of Jesus with an accessible and creative daily prayer practice. During this holy, busy season, disciples are invited to find small moments of reflection to stay connected to their personal faith, to others, and to God.

Daily meditations and images—inspired by a prompt word selected from the daily lectionary readings—will be released at adventword.org, beginning Sunday, November 29.

Email subscribers and social media followers will receive a daily meditation (in English and Spanish) and visual image inspired by the day’s word, and are invited to share their own personal reflections, art, poetry, or other creative expression.

MONDAY TAKE-AWAYS:

1. Our prayers of the people list keeps on growing! We are honored to pray for the needs of those who see our posts on Facebook as well as our regular attenders! Reach out on Fridays, or anytime, to share your specific needs and desires for prayer.

2. The gospel from Matthew 16 yesterday sees Jesus foretelling his journey to Jerusalem -- to suffering, to death, and ultimately to resurrection. Marshall Crossnoe pointed out that the Apostle Peter, who has just been called "the Rock" by Jesus, is now shamed as "Satan"... What gives? Peter seems to be like a lot of us; wobbling between faith and human frailty. Peter loved Jesus; Marshall noted that it's this love that caused Peter to say, "May it never be!" when thinking about the suffering and death of which Jesus shared. BUT, Peter missed the last part of the sentence .... RESURRECTION! We as God's people in this place need to make sure we understand all of it; that there will be suffering and death, but also glorious resurrection. As our bishop often says, we are Easter people in a Good Friday world.

3. Yesterday was a glorious day to spend with God's people; our family at St. Vincent's. Reverent and meaningful worship, planning for service to our community, and fellowship among friends! We missed those not with us, but pray all knew and felt the Spirit of God. TGBTG

This Sunday we hear a passage from Matthew 16 that can be pretty tough... Jesus says to his followers, "If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit them if they gain the whole world but forfeit their life? Or what will they give in return for their life?"

Jesus doesn't promise easy times. He DOES promise his followers his PRESENCE, and God dwells in and among us through the Holy Spirit. Come worship with us this week. YOU ARE WELCOME HERE!
