Saint Meinrad

Saint Meinrad Saint Meinrad Archabbey is a Benedictine monastery founded in 1854. Guests are welcome to join the monks in prayer in the Archabbey Church. Benedict.

The Benedictine community at Saint Meinrad consists of about 70 men who dedicate their lives to prayer and work. They gather in community five times a day-for morning prayer, noon prayer, evening prayer, compline and Mass-to pray for the Catholic Church and the world. The monks live by the wisdom and guidance of the Rule of St. Benedict, the sixth-century instructions for community living written

by St. Shortly after arriving in Indiana, the Benedictines began offering high school courses to local youths. In 1861, the monks expanded their general courses to include undergraduate courses in philosophy and theology. Through these programs, the monks of Saint Meinrad began their mission, which continues today: preparing men for service in the Catholic Church as priests.

Internationally acclaimed trumpet virtuoso Ronald Romm has enjoyed an extraordinary career as a soloist, chamber musician, recording artist, and teacher. Known for his brilliant technique, warm sound, and engaging musical style, Romm has performed in many of the world’s leading concert halls, festivals, and music conferences. Romm was named as one of the top 12 brass players of the 20th century by Brass Bulletin Magazine.

Come hear Romm play Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto with the Arete Orchestra at Saint Meinrad on Saturday, Sept. 12. The concert will be in St. Bede Theater at 7:30 p.m.

Saint Meinrad’s Arete Orchestra will perform Sounds of Fury on September 12 at 7:30 p.m. in St. Bede Theater.

The program includes Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro Overture, Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto featuring acclaimed trumpet virtuoso Ronald Romm, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 in A Major.

The concert is free and open to the public, and no registration is required.
