Not only do we wish everyone a happy Memorial Day weekend, giving thanks for the gift of life our service women and men have provided in offering their lives for the nation, but this Sunday marks Pentecost in the liturgical calendar. Pentecost reminds us of the "birth" of the church, as the Spirit creates a community beyond the boundaries of language, culture, or creed, and instead unites us all in the life and power of Jesus Christ.
