Is Jesus Really Who He Claims to Be?

One of the clearest warning signs of a cult is what they believe about Jesus.

Every major cult movement in history has one thing in common — they minimize Him. Some say He was just a great man. Others claim He was a highly evolved human or an angel. Some groups elevate Mary or deceased saints to stand alongside Him. Others deny that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are one equal, eternal God.

Here's what the Bible says plainly:
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." — John 1:1

Jesus is not a created being. He is not second-tier. He is not sharing His glory with anyone. He is fully God, co-equal with the Father and the Holy Spirit, and He has always existed.

When a religious group hands you a Bible but quietly changes what it says about Jesus — that's not a different version of Christianity. That's a different religion.

You don't have to be a theologian to recognize it. Just ask: "Who do you say Jesus is?" The answer will tell you everything.

"He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?" — Matthew 16:15

Friend, the real Jesus saves. A reimagined Jesus cannot. Make sure the One you're trusting is the One the Bible actually reveals.

🍔 What a day at Crossroads! 🙌

Family Day was everything we hoped it would be — great food, good fellowship, and the kind of laughter that fills up your soul. There's nothing quite like gathering with your church family after worship to grill out, swap stories, and just enjoy being together.

Grateful for every face around those tables today. This is what church family looks like! ❤️

Unfortunately I only took a few photos, too busy being in the moment!

VBS Day 5

Wow—what an incredible week! Over the past five days, our kids have learned all about David and what it means to have the Heart of a Hero. Through his story, we discovered that courage, obedience, and humility grow from our trust and faith in God.

We had so much fun playing games, “slaying” Goliath, making music, and creating crafts that helped bring each lesson to life.

We can’t believe the week is already over! Every single child who joined us was an absolute joy, and we are so grateful for the memories we made together.

We hope to see everyone at Family Day on Sunday as we celebrate an amazing week of VBS! 💙

A special shoutout to our teen helpers! They absolutely impressed us this week with how quickly they jumped in and served wherever they were needed. Each of them worked incredibly hard and did a wonderful job shepherding and caring for our little sheep.

More importantly, these young people are a beautiful example of the next generation stepping up and embracing leadership within our church. Watching them grow in their faith, serve others so willingly, and invest in younger children gives us so much hope for the future. We couldn’t be more proud of them and are excited to see how God continues to work through their lives.

Proverbs 22:6
"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."

I've been thinking a lot about the hate and division tearing at the fabric of our communities lately. We see it everywhere — neighbors against neighbors, harsh words flying faster than truth, hearts growing cold.

Here's what I believe with all my heart: this isn't ultimately a political problem or a social problem. It's a sin problem.

Romans 1 tells us that when people suppress the truth and reject God, things don't just stay neutral — they unravel. Hearts get darkened. Relationships break down. Division spreads like infection. Unconfessed sin doesn't stay contained in private; it bleeds out into how we treat each other.
But here's the good news — and I mean GOOD news: there's a cure. His name is Jesus.

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9)

A nation full of forgiven, transformed hearts looks different. It loves different. It speaks different. Revival doesn't start in Washington — it starts on our knees.

If your heart feels heavy over the state of things, I'd just gently ask: have you brought it to the foot of the cross? Confession isn't weakness — it's the doorway to healing.

VBS day 4 was all about putting our faith in God. Sometimes things seem really BIG until we put our faith in God. Once we do that, we find it doesn't feel so big because nothing is bigger than Him.

We were reminded that David's earlier faith in God delivered him safely from the lion and bear and his continued faith in God delivered him safely from the fight with Goliath.

Our kids had a blast today painting rocks, rolling HUGE soccer balls and reciting our signature song (come Sunday for more on that last one!)

We can't believe that the last day is already tomorrow. 🥺
