The event brought together Pacific Islander Young Adults from across the connection for a few days of learning, sharing and visioning. In early August approximately 900 homes were destroyed by wildfire in the Spokane area. As part of our response, a joint team from the Western Jurisdiction of the United Methodist Church deployed to assist survivors with personal property retrieval at their burned-out homes.

On Saturday, August 22nd, the second annual Women of Hope, Faith and Love Retreat took place at First United Methodist Church Bakersfield. DS Mary Maaga served as the event speaker and the event was attended by over 100 attendees from churches across the Central Valley district.

All Central Valley laity and clergy are welcome to join us for a conversation at 8am on Saturday, September 5 on how to help our Churches become more FRUITFUL! We will meet the first Saturday of September, October, November, December at 8am for an hour over ZOOM. Come to one or come to all — either way you are sure to get something out of our time together. Last time 18 people came and we had a spirited conversation around having a REVIVAL mentality with an emphasis on CONNECTIONALISM. Our goal? To reach new people!

Coordinating with the Long-Term Recovery Group of Santa Cruz County, in August, an UMVIM Team representing Asbury UMC, Los Altos UMC and Watsonville First UMC, repaired damage to a home that resulted from the 2022 Atmospheric River Event in Soquel, CA.

The California-Nevada Conference invites individuals with a heart for service to attend the training. This class is required for volunteers who wish to become certified and badged as ERT Team Members.
