This is where we served last week with Eight Days of Hope. Please be praying for all those affected by natural disasters.

As the new school year begins in Gary and across Northwest Indiana, thousands of families are still living without electricity following nearly two weeks of persistent power outages from severe weather. This extended loss of power has created significant challenges for parents and students returning to the classroom, with neighboring districts like Portage having to entirely delay the start of their academic year. Utility crews continue their efforts to restore service in Gary, Hammond, Lake Station, and other affected communities, though many neighborhoods remain in the dark.

We are in a few of these pics shared by EDOH from this week’s trip to Indiana.

BREAKING: EDOH’s Mass Feeding and Rapid Response Heavy teams are deploying to Northwest Indiana following the catastrophic storms of August 11.

On the afternoon of Tuesday, August 11, a derecho traveled 330 miles across multiple Midwest states, producing numerous tornadoes in Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. In Northwest Indiana alone, over 183,000 customers were still without power 24 hours after the impact of the tornadoes that touched down.

We are humbled to provide meals to those in Lake County as they wait for the power to be restored. Beginning Saturday, August 15, our team will begin serving free, hot meals to the community!

Our Rapid Response - Heavy arm will also be responding to serve Lake County, IN, as homes across the area sustained tree and wind damage. Starting cleanup efforts on Saturday, August 15, our heavy equipment operators will clear dangerous debris, remove trees that have been damaged, tarp roofs, pray with families, and more!

If you know anyone in this area in need, please share this post so they can receive free meals and words of encouragement as they walk through the coming weeks.

Currently, we are not accepting volunteers for these outreaches. As we continue to assess and determine the need, we could potentially open volunteering. Stay up to date on our social media and our website at eightdaysofhope.com.

Although volunteering is limited, we still need your support!

Right now, join us in prayer for each family who experienced the derecho and two tornadoes or have friends and family who were home when the storms came through. Pray for their hearts, their recovery, and those that will minister to them.

You can also give! Every dollar you donate to EDOH is passed through to the area where we’re serving. If you give right now, 100% of your donation will impact families in Northwest Indiana through our Mass Feeding and Rapid Response teams. Send your donation through eightdaysofhope.com or by texting the word GIVE to 86373.

Asking for healing prayers for one of our grand daughters Estelle (4 1/2 yrs old). She got her fingers caught in the camper door Monday evening while camping with us. Her middle right finger has a fractured bone near the end. She will need to see a hand surgeon to watch her closely and see if repairs will be needed. Thank God she didn’t loose her little finger. This Grammy and Grampy feel terrible that this happened. Praying for a miraculous healing. ❤️‍🩹
