A friend of mine had a powerful vision in prayer.

At the time, he was buried in stress about work, and about providing. Can you relate?

He was meditating on the book of Exodus, when God's people left slavery in Egypt, wandered into the desert, and had no food.

God sent them manna. A thin, wafer-like flake on the grass every morning, with everything they needed for the day.

But here was the catch: they could only gather enough for THAT day. Gather more, and the leftovers rotted.

It required trust that God would provide today, and again tomorrow.

In my friend's vision, he saw two families making that same desert journey:

The first was restful. Sitting by the fire outside their tent, enjoying the manna God had provided. Mom and dad smiling, delighting in their kids and each other. The kids looked loved. There was laughter.

The second was stressed. Furrowed brows. Prodding the kids to help hoard as much manna as they could, just in case God didn't come through tomorrow. Zero joy.

In the end? They had no more than the peaceful family did. All the extra rotted. "Whoever gathered much had nothing left over, and whoever gathered little had no lack."

That vision has stuck with me ever since. If I call God my Father, I'm meant to be that first family. And that is NOT easy. It takes a lot of prayer.

Because there's only one thing harder than resting in trust that God will provide... NOT trusting him. Being miserable like that second family. Stressed out for nothing.
