At Rocky River United Methodist Church we know that “It’s All About The Story.” That is what we stand for and that is what we are all about. We don’t care how broken or messed up your story is to this point. At this church we just want you to know that we want to be a part of that story so that we can help you see Jesus right in the midst of it. Why do we as RRUMC members and attendees exist? We e

xist for one reason. Are you ready? We exist to help people meet Jesus Christ in the midst of their story. It really is that simple. That should be the filter that we run every single thing we do at this church through. That simple sentence lets people know that we will take them right where they are at in their lives. They don’t have to figure it all out before they come to our church. Jesus is in the midst of their broken and messed up stories. Our church exists to help people meet Jesus in the midst of that story. With that filter in place, ministry in this church gets crystal clear. No matter what we are about to do, to start, to end, to dream into being, it needs to answer a simple question. Will it help people meet Jesus Christ in the midst of their story? If the answer is NO then the answer is NO. If the answer to that simple question is YES then we will let nothing stand in our way to bring it in to reality. Isn’t that why Jesus started the church when he called Peter the Rock? Church was created to lead people into a real and life-transforming relationship with Jesus Christ. That is who we are and that is what we are all about. It’s simple.

I always worry about if the kids are gonna have fun. But I’ve come to realize if you bring out instruments , you know something for them to bang on they’re gonna have the best time ever!
Also I loved the energy the harbor group brought to doing the dance while the 10am group mastered the instruments!
We are planning a little appearance for sometime in November! Stay tuned. Getting them to agree to. Perform has been difficult but I think I did. It involves some congregation participation and a sundae, Sunday. But it will be worth it!
(Also FB is only allowing one video at a time for some reason so I’ll post another on a different post)

👀 What happens when we slow down long enough to truly see the people around us?

This Labor Day Weekend, join us at Rocky River United Methodist Church for worship and Communion Sunday as Rev. Dan Bogre shares “Unseen: The Art of Noticing,” based on Mark 10:46–52 and referencing Luke 19:1–10.

In a world filled with screens, packed schedules, distractions, and constant demands for our attention, it’s easy for people to go unnoticed. Yet throughout His ministry, Jesus stopped. He noticed. He saw people others overlooked.

This Sunday, we’ll explore how we can follow His example by becoming more intentionally present — opening our eyes and hearts to truly notice our family, coworkers, neighbors, strangers, and others God places in our path.

Pastor Paul Bennett will share a message titled, “When the Waters Recede,” based on ​Genesis 8:15-22.

Faith before the flood draws us into God’s embrace as the terrible flood waters begin to encircle us.

But where does our faith stand when we’ve been bobbing helplessly on top of the flood waters for six months, nine months, an entire year?

Hopefully we find ourselves asking the question we should have been asking all along: What is it we’re truly seeking with our life of faith?

With the flood dragging on and on, is our faith built solely upon the expectation that God will remove the flood?

Is it built upon the comfort and sustenance we receive from Him in the midst?

Or……is the true prize of our faith what it ought to be, the reward of knowing our Lord and Creator and walking side by side with Him daily?

If so, even while the flood persists, we still have everything we need.

And when the water recedes, the new life in the Lord we’ve established will have us soaring higher than ever before.

What happens to our faith when the storm lasts longer than we ever expected?

Join us this Sunday, August 30, at Rocky River United Methodist Church as Pastor Paul Bennett shares a message titled “When the Waters Recede,” based on Genesis 8:15–22.

Noah’s story reminds us that faith isn’t only about trusting God to remove the flood. It’s about discovering the greater gift of knowing our Lord, walking beside Him daily, and trusting that He is with us through every season.

And when the waters finally recede? We may discover that our journey with God has prepared us to soar higher than ever before.

Acting on God's word is like building a house on a rock; it is the only foundation that can withstand life's inevitable "floods" and "storms."

Hearing vs. Doing: Jesus distinguishes between those who hear His words and those who put them into practice.

The storm comes to both houses: Crisis is a reality for everyone, but the outcome depends on the foundation.

Obedience as our refuge: Living righteously and obeying God's instructions becomes our safety and stability when the floodwaters rise.

⛪ Build Your Life on a Foundation That Lasts.

Join us this Sunday, August 23, at Rocky River United Methodist Church as Rev. Daniel F. Bogre shares “The Foundation that Withstands the Flood,” based on Matthew 7:21–29 and Psalm 46:1–10.

Jesus reminds us that hearing God’s Word is only the beginning. Acting on it is like building a house on solid rock — creating a foundation that can withstand the inevitable storms and floods of life.

The storms come to everyone. The question is: What are you building your life upon?
