Rocky River United Methodist Church "It's All about the Story!" Rocky River United Methodist Church exists to help people meet Jesus Chr Why do we exist? Why does RRUMC exist in this world?

At Rocky River United Methodist Church we know that “It’s All About The Story.” That is what we stand for and that is what we are all about. We don’t care how broken or messed up your story is to this point. At this church we just want you to know that we want to be a part of that story so that we can help you see Jesus right in the midst of it. Why do we as RRUMC members and attendees exist? We e

xist for one reason. Are you ready? We exist to help people meet Jesus Christ in the midst of their story. It really is that simple. That should be the filter that we run every single thing we do at this church through. That simple sentence lets people know that we will take them right where they are at in their lives. They don’t have to figure it all out before they come to our church. Jesus is in the midst of their broken and messed up stories. Our church exists to help people meet Jesus in the midst of that story. With that filter in place, ministry in this church gets crystal clear. No matter what we are about to do, to start, to end, to dream into being, it needs to answer a simple question. Will it help people meet Jesus Christ in the midst of their story? If the answer is NO then the answer is NO. If the answer to that simple question is YES then we will let nothing stand in our way to bring it in to reality. Isn’t that why Jesus started the church when he called Peter the Rock? Church was created to lead people into a real and life-transforming relationship with Jesus Christ. That is who we are and that is what we are all about. It’s simple.

6/7/2026 - Second Sunday after Pentecost. Communion Sunday. Rev. Daniel F. Bogre will begin the sermon series, “Baggage Claim: Living Light in a Heavy World,” with the sermon, “Unpacking the Baggage of Sin: Checked at the Gate,” based on Romans 6:19-23, 1 John 1:3-10 and Ephesians 3:1-10.

Romans 6:19-23 and 1 John 1:3-10. Identifying the Load: Sin isn't just "mistakes"; it's a real burden with genuine consequences (Romans 6:23).
The Futility of Self-Correction: We cannot earn our way out of the baggage; attempts to do so only add weight.

God's Forgiveness is the Key: Confession and acceptance of Christ's sacrifice provide the only true release (1 John 1:9; Ephesians 1:7).

The “Load” of sin is something we are not supposed to carry, designed to carry or were created to carry. However, so many times in this world we allow that load of sin to define us and lead us in everything we do.

This is a weight that can be shed and, in fact, Jesus died on the cross to take it from us.

🎒 What Are You Carrying?

Join us this Sunday at Rocky River United Methodist Church as Rev. Daniel F. Bogre begins a brand-new sermon series:

“Baggage Claim: Living Light in a Heavy World”

This week’s message, “Unpacking the Baggage of Sin: Checked at the Gate,” explores the weight we were never meant to carry — guilt, shame, fear, regret, and the burden of sin that so often defines our lives.

The good news? Jesus Christ came to take that burden from us. Through forgiveness, grace, and the power of the cross, we can finally let go of what has been weighing us down.

5/31/2026 - Trinity Sunday. Rev. Daniel F. Bogre will continue the sermon series, “The Unfolding Journey: From Seed to Shade,” with the sermon, “The Eternal Canopy: The Lifespan of Faith and Our Eternal Hope,” based on 2 Corinthians 4:7-18 and Hebrews 12:1-2.

In 2 Corinthians, Paul reminds us that even in Christ, we will face storms.
A stately old tree—having survived centuries of drought and lightning—understands this well.

Yet it remains proud, its vast canopy offering shelter to all who seek it. Surrounded by a "great cloud of witnesses," we recognize that our faith has seasons of death and rebirth.

While our outward selves age, our inner spirit is continually renewed by the anchor of God’s eternal promise. Come and rest under the eternal canopy.

Today we celebrate the wisdom gained through age and the vital role of passing a spiritual legacy to younger generations.

We will focus on the value of life experience and the call to intergenerational discipleship.

Like a Redwood that has stood for centuries, our elders offer a perspective that looks toward the future with hope and the anticipation of eternal life.

This Memorial Day Weekend, we pause with heartfelt gratitude and solemn remembrance as we honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication will never be forgotten.

As we gather with family and friends this weekend, may we also take time to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy because of those who gave so much. From all of us at Rocky River United Methodist Church, we wish you a safe, meaningful, and reflective Memorial Day Weekend. 🇺🇸
