"From the river to the sea..."
God's Promise and His enemy's Threat
The framework of this phrase originates in Joshua 1:4 but springs from the promises God gave to Abraham in Gen 12 and 17 (and others). As we go through Joshua verse by verse, we can't miss the cultural, historical and theological relevance. Recently, "From the River to the Sea" has been heard across college campuses, chanted by Hamas terrorists, and shouted by Palestinian activists. Why? What are they saying? It's interesting that they take up this very promise and use it as a declaration of war while promoting the eradication of Jewish people from Israel. Tonight we're going to take a look at how God's promises to Israel, including the land promises, fit into the New Covenant through Jesus Christ. Are they to the nation of Israel? Are they to the Jewish Remnant? Do they pertain only to the NT Church metaphorically? Get ready to take notes and ask questions! See you tonight at 6:30 for worship and an overview of Covenant Theology, Dispensationalism and how the ongoing rise in anti-semitism ties into these hot topics!
We meet at The Chalet @ 5450 China Garden Rd, Rocklin. Foundry Kids will care for and teach your children.
