5-Day Devotional: Freedom in Christ.
Day 2: The Danger of Turning Back
Reading: Galatians 4:8-11; Hebrews 10:26-31
Devotional:
Why would anyone who has tasted freedom return to slavery? Yet this is precisely what Paul confronts in the Galatian churches. They were turning back to "weak and worthless" principles, trading the Savior for slavery. This pattern persists today when we substitute Christ-centered faith with religious performance, cultural conformity, or material pursuits. The shocking truth is that legalistic religion and outright paganism lead to the same destination—bo***ge and separation from God. Paul's heart breaks at the thought that his labor might be in vain. Examine your own life: Are you pursuing freedom in Christ, or have you settled for a more comfortable form of slavery? God has gone to great lengths to pursue and save you. Don't trade that precious gift for anything less.

5-Day Devotional: Freedom in Christ.
Day 1: From Slavery to Sonship
Reading: Galatians 4:1-7
Devotional:
The journey from slavery to sonship is the heart of the gospel. Paul reminds us that we were once enslaved—whether to pagan practices, religious legalism, or the elementary principles of this world. But through Christ, everything changed. God didn't just free us from bo***ge; He adopted us as His children. We can now cry "Abba, Father" with intimate confidence. This isn't merely a change of status—it's a transformation of identity. You are no longer defined by your past enslavement but by your present relationship with God. Today, reflect on areas where you might still be living as a slave rather than as a beloved son or daughter. Embrace the freedom and intimacy God offers you.

Why trade freedom in Christ for slavery? Paul warns the Galatians against returning to legalism—whether paganism or religious rules. Both enslave. True freedom is found in a Person, not a system. Choose the Savior over slavery.

Why would anyone trade freedom for slavery? This week at Rockaway Church, we explored Galatians 4:8-14 and confronted a shocking reality: even after experiencing God's liberating grace, we can be tempted to return to bo***ge—whether through legalism, materialism, or empty religious practices.

Paul reminded the Galatian believers that they were no longer slaves but sons and daughters, able to cry "Abba, Father!" Yet they were turning back to worthless systems that could never save them. The apostle's heart-wrenching question echoes to us today: "How can you turn back again to the weak and worthless elementary principles of the world?"

Here's the truth: complicated sin problems have simple solutions—turn back to Jesus. Freedom is never found in a religious system; it's found in a Person. You weren't designed to tough it out alone. If you're struggling, seek Him. Talk to a brother or sister in Christ. Experience the power that releases you from every form of bo***ge.

Choose freedom in Christ over slavery to anything else.

Freedom or slavery? It's a choice we make every day. Paul's letter to the Galatians confronts a shocking reality: believers were trading the freedom of Christ for religious bo***ge.

The Galatian churches had experienced true freedom in Jesus—calling God "Abba, Father" with intimacy and joy. Yet they were turning back to legalistic rituals and empty practices. Paul asks the piercing question: "How can you turn back again to the weak and worthless elementary principles of the world whose slaves you want to be once more?" (Galatians 4:9)

Whether it's paganism, legalism, or any religious system that promises salvation through our effort, it's all slavery. True freedom is found in one Person alone—Jesus Christ. He doesn't offer rules to follow; He offers relationship, transformation, and liberation from bo***ge.

Which path are you feeding today? Join us as we continue our journey through Galatians and discover the radical freedom Christ offers.

5-Day Devotional: Seated at the Father's Table.

Day 5: The Kingdom Invitation.
Reading: 2 Corinthians 5:17-21.

Devotional: You have been entrusted with an immense message: people living in spiritual slavery can have a place at the Father's table. Remember the phrase, "such were some of you." You once lived in the gutter spiritually, regardless of your moral efforts. But Christ lifted you out and seated you at His table. Now you are His ambassador, beckoning others to come into the household of God. This week, who needs to hear this invitation? Look for those playing with mud pies when they could feast at the King's banquet. Share the good news that there is still room at His table—every seat will be filled, but today there is still room. Are you seated at His table? If so, who will you invite to join you?
