DON'T LIVE TOMORROW TODAY

Matthew 6:34

“Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself…”

Worry often forces you to emotionally experience a future that has not happened. You suffer today over something that may never occur tomorrow. Jesus teaches us to live with daily dependence upon God. You have grace for today. Strength for today. Wisdom for today. Mercy for today. And when tomorrow becomes today, God will be there too. Don't spend today's strength fighting tomorrow's imaginary battles. Faith doesn't need to know everything that is coming; faith knows the One who will be there when it comes.

Declaration

I will not carry tomorrow today. God has given me grace for this moment, and I trust Him with what comes next.

Prayer

Father, free me from worrying about tomorrow. Give me wisdom for today and confidence that Your presence will meet me in every tomorrow. Amen.

PEACE WHILE YOU WAIT

Philippians 4:6–7

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Sometimes God changes the situation. Other times, before He changes the situation, He changes what the situation is doing to you. Paul says prayer produces a peace that “passeth all understanding.” In other words, your circumstances may give you a legitimate reason to worry, yet God's presence gives you a greater reason to trust. Prayer transfers the burden from your shoulders to God's hands. You do not have to carry what you have already prayed about as though everything still depends upon you.

Declaration

I release what I cannot control. I will pray, trust, and allow God's peace to guard me while I wait.

Prayer

Father, I give You what has been weighing on me. Guard my heart and mind, and give me peace while I wait for Your answer. Amen.

GUARD YOUR MIND

Philippians 4:8
“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report…think on these things.”

Every thought that enters your mind does not deserve permission to remain there. Paul gives believers a filter for our thinking: true, honest, just, pure, lovely, good report, virtue, praise. You may not control every thought that knocks on the door of your mind, but you can decide which thoughts you invite inside. Fear asks, “What if everything goes wrong?” Faith asks, “What has God said?” Guarding your peace requires guarding your thought life. Today, refuse to rehearse scenarios that have never happened as though they are already facts.

Declaration
I will not give every thought equal authority. My thoughts will come into alignment with God's truth.

Prayer
Lord, guard my mind. Give me discernment to reject thoughts rooted in fear and discipline to meditate on what agrees with Your Word. Amen.

DON'T LET THE STORM GET IN YOU

Mark 4:39

“And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still…”

The disciples and Jesus experienced the same storm but responded differently. The storm was happening around Jesus without taking control within Jesus. That's a picture of Kingdom peace. You cannot prevent every storm from coming, but through Christ you can refuse to allow every storm to take residence in your spirit. Bad news does not have to become a bad attitude. Uncertainty does not have to become anxiety. Trouble does not have to become torment. The storm may be around you, but you don't have to let the storm get in you. If you keep your mind stayed on God, God can keep you while you're in the storm.

Declaration

The storm may be around me, but it will not control what happens within me. Christ's peace governs my heart.

Prayer

Jesus, speak peace to every storm within me. Even before my circumstances change, establish Your peace in my heart and mind. Amen.

PERFECT PEACE

Isaiah 26:3

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”

Peace is not the absence of trouble; peace is the God-given stability that keeps you from being internally controlled by the trouble around you. The Hebrew concept of shalom communicates wholeness, completeness, soundness, and well-being. Isaiah actually repeats the word—shalom, shalom—which the KJV renders it “perfect peace.” Notice, however, that Isaiah does not say God keeps the person whose circumstances are perfect. He keeps the person whose mind is stayed on Him. Your peace is therefore not primarily circumstantial; it is positional. The important question today isn't simply, “What am I going through?” It is “Where is my mind staying while I'm going through it?”

Declaration

My circumstances will not control my internal condition. My mind is stayed on God, and God is keeping me in peace.

Prayer

Father, settle my mind today. Help me focus more on Your faithfulness than my circumstances and trust You with everything beyond my control. Amen.

DON'T CHASE FAVOR; CHASE GOD

Matthew 6:33

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

We can become so focused on opportunities, relationships, recognition, and advancement that we begin chasing what should be following us. Jesus reverses the order: seek first the Kingdom. Favor is safest when it is the result of pursuing God rather than pursuing recognition. Make today's primary question not, “Who can help me?” but “How can I honor God?” When pleasing the King becomes your priority, you can trust Him with positioning. You do not have to chase everything that looks like advancement. Seek God, develop your gift, remain faithful, and allow Him to determine your next.

Declaration

I seek the King before I seek opportunities. I trust God to position me as I faithfully pursue His Kingdom.

Prayer

Lord, keep my motives pure. May I desire Your presence more than platforms and Your approval more than recognition. Order my life according to Your Kingdom. Amen.

FAVOR MAKES ROOM

Proverbs 18:16

“A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.”

God has placed something within you that has value beyond your present environment. Your gift may not yet have reached its largest audience, but that does not diminish what God deposited in you. Rather than spending your energy trying to make people recognize you, develop what God has given you. Excellence prepares the gift for the room favor will eventually create. Do not become so consumed with getting into the next room that you fail to become ready for it. Favor may open the opportunity, but character, competence, and faithfulness help you succeed in it.

Declaration

I will develop what God has deposited in me. I am becoming ready for the opportunities His favor will provide.

Prayer

Father, develop my gifts, strengthen my character, and prepare me to faithfully handle every room You allow me to enter. Amen.

Revelation 3:8

“I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it…”

Devotional

There are doors you can open through education, relationships, preparation, and hard work… and you should ABSOLUTELY do all of those things. But there are also doors only God can open. Kingdom favor means you do not have to manipulate your way into what God has ordained for you. Your responsibility is to prepare, obey, remain faithful, and keep moving. God's responsibility is to arrange what you cannot. When He opens the right door, opposition cannot cancel His purpose. Prepare today as though the door is going to open tomorrow.

Declaration

I will prepare for the doors I am praying for. What God has ordained for me cannot be canceled by people.

Prayer

God, prepare me for every opportunity You have prepared for me. Give me discernment to recognize Your doors and courage to walk through them. Amen.
