DON’T FORGET YOUR PRIORITIES

Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day (Deuteronomy 8:11).

Pastor Chris Says,
=============

It’s very easy to forget what you're supposed to be doing for the Lord. I’m not just referring to individuals; even the Church in general can forget its priorities. Look at Church history; it only took three centuries from the inception of the Church for it to dominate the whole world. This was a phenomenal accomplishment in a day when communication and transportation were very slow.

In 324 AD, Emperor Constantine abolished the persecution of Christians, and just six years later, by 330 AD, he declared Christianity the religion of the world. The Church was happy about this and, for some reason, became too relaxed. They didn't see the urgency for evangelism because everything seemed fine. “Everyone’s kind of religious,” they thought, but Jesus didn’t come to establish a religion; He wanted men truly saved.

Thus, it’s important to always reappraise our priorities. The children of Israel forgot their priorities. The Bible tells us how God gave them the land He promised them. With it, He gave them rest; there was peace, and everything was fine. (Joshua 21:43-45). He however gave them a warning in Joshua 23:7-8: “That ye come not among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow yourselves unto them: But cleave unto the LORD your God, as ye have done unto this day.”

The Israelites tried to heed this warning for a while but eventually got carried away and began to serve pagan gods. That's what happens when we're not winning souls: the Church begins to get worldly. Soon enough, we start getting interested in their attractive job offers and mouth-watering businesses. They keep pulling us until we start forgetting that we’re supposed to be soul winners.

That’s when you see Christians who can't come to church because they have to go to work on Sundays. Some stop coming to church because business is booming and they always have to travel. Such people have forgotten their priorities. Don’t let the world pull you to its attractions; don’t forget your priorities. Maintain the sanctity of your fellowship and devotion to Christ and to spiritual things. Keep winning souls. You’re first and foremost a Christian; let that be evident in everything about your life.

CONFESSIONS
What a joy to preach the glorious Gospel! The expansion of God’s Kingdom in the earth is my top priority, and I declare that nothing will distract me from channelling my energies towards turning men from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, making them citizens of God’s eternal Kingdom. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY:
Deuteronomy 8:11-14
“Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day: lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein; and when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied; then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;”

Matthew 6:33
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

2 Timothy 4:2
“preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.”

✨BY FAITH, NOT BY THE LAW✨

Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law…That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith (Galatians 3:13–14).

Pastor Chris Says,
=============

Redemption from the curse of the law, as read in our opening scripture, was for the Jews and not the Gentiles. Moreover, it wasn’t the end goal of salvation but the doorway into something greater: the blessing of Abraham and the promise of the Spirit through faith. The Law could not make man righteous or give him eternal life. Only faith in Christ could accomplish that.

Paul reveals that Christ became a curse on the Cross so that the Jew might be free from the penalties of the Law. But that wasn’t all. He did it so that the blessing of Abraham—justification, favour, inheritance, and the Spirit—might come to the Gentiles. The Law worked on conditions; it was based on obedience.

For example, in Exodus 19:5, God said, “Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people….” But the blessing of Abraham operates by faith. It is not about qualifying through works but about receiving through faith: just as the Bible says that Abraham believed God and it was counted to him for righteousness (Romans 4:3).

Now, we who believe in Jesus are made righteous by faith and are partakers of the same blessing. That blessing includes the Spirit of God dwelling in us—guiding, empowering, and transforming us from within. This is why faith is so crucial in the New Testament. Romans 1:17 says, “…as it is written, The just shall live by faith.” Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please him….”

Without faith, you can’t receive the blessing or enjoy the inheritance. Your faith is the key to everything God has made available to you in Christ. So, live by faith! Talk faith, and respond in faith. Faith is the currency of our heavenly Kingdom. It’s our lifestyle: “But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. And the law is not of faith….” (Galatians 3:11-12). The blessings of the New Testament are yours by faith.

PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for bringing me into the glorious liberty of the sons of God. I walk in the blessing of Abraham, full of faith and led by the Spirit. My life is the expression of your grace, favour and righteousness. I enjoy all that Christ has made available to me. I flourish in every area of my life and fulfil your divine purpose with joy and power, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL
FRIDAY, 29TH AUGUST 2025
PASTOR CHRIS

THEME: KEEP BUILDING AND USING YOUR FAITH

But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost (Jude 1:20).

Faith, like fire, has a natural tendency to dissipate if it’s not sustained. Fire consumes its source, and if you don’t keep feeding it, it eventually goes out. It’s the same with faith. You’re responsible for building your faith; feed it for it to grow, and constantly use it for it to remain strong.

You feed your faith by hearing and receiving more of God’s Word into your spirit, for faith comes by hearing (Romans 10:17). But you build your faith strong by putting it to work, by using it. So, to sustain the fire of your faith, you have to keep adding more “material,” that is, more of God’s Word. You must keep feeding your spirit with the Word.

Your faith shouldn’t remain at one level; our opening scripture talks about building up yourself on your most holy faith. The Amplified Classic renders it thus, “But you, beloved, build yourselves up [founded] on your most holy faith [make progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], praying in the Holy Spirit.” This means the highest level of faith you may have attained isn’t the end; you have to keep building on it.

Don’t let your journey of faith become a mere memory of how you once walked in great faith. No! Remember, the Christian life is from glory to glory, grace to grace, and faith to faith—ever-increasing faith! Growing in Christ means your faith gets stronger; you have the faith of the fathers; faith that’s deep, tested, proven and victorious through trials; faith that always prevails. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION

My faith is strong and always prevails because I put it to work and feed it always with the Word. I walk in perpetual victory. Thank you, heavenly Father, for even now, I build myself on my most holy faith as I pray in the Holy Ghost. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

Romans 10:17 KJV So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Acts 20:32 KJV And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.

James 2:18-26 KJV Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. 19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? 23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. 24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. 25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent [them] out another way? 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES - DAILY DEVOTIONAL

TOPIC: "USE THE SHIELD OF FAITH"

Thursday 28th August 2025.

PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME
-------------------------------------------------
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked (Ephesians 6:16).

There are times when troubling thoughts may run through the mind, creating feelings of distress and agitation. Some people think they're just being emotional when this happens. But what they don't realize is that the enemy often seeks to take advantage of their emotions by bombarding their minds with negative thoughts. These are fiery darts and missiles.

When such negative emotions, resulting from negative thoughts are left unchecked, they could soon lead to anxiety and despondency. These are signs that the adversary is attempting to create turmoil through the mind. But Ephesians 6:16 says, "Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked."

At such moments when you find yourself wrestling with thoughts of gloom, use your shield of faith. Actively vocalize the Word of God. Remember, faith must be vocalized and put to work. You ought to declare, "I refuse to be anxious, fretful, nervous or apprehensive. I'm born of God and have overcome Satan, the world and its negative and debilitating effects."

If you don't actively use your faith against the missiles the enemy throws at your mind, the attacks may extend from the mind to the body. It's the reason you must be quick to use the Word to cut out and expel all negative thoughts and wicked imaginations. Declare that your spirit, soul, body and mind belong to the Lord and are thus sanctified by the Spirit.

Your bold, faith-filled declarations put you over and above every assault of the adversary. The shield of faith quenches all the fiery darts of the wicked. Henceforth, if terrible thoughts come to your mind or something unusual appears in your body, maybe it's a swelling, a hardening or any abnormality, kill it with your faith-filled words. Your words are not ordinary.

The Bible talks about the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word or "Rhema" (Greek) of God (Ephesians 6:17). "Rhema" is the spoken Word, the Word of God that you speak forth. So, when you face challenges, refuse to fret or be moved; rather, declare your victory in Christ. 2 Corinthians 2:14 says "Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ...." This is the victorious life in Christ; we use the Word against the enemy. We're triumphant by the Spirit through our faith-filled words. Glory to God!

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for the shield of faith by which I quench every fiery dart of the enemy. I'm triumphant by the Spirit through my faith-filled confessions. I'm sanctified and vitalized to walk in victory, strength and divine health, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
