“What Do I Have To Give”
One of the greatest experiences in life is when you are able to give, help, encourage someone who is in need. It is a feeling of gratitude because all of us have been in need at some point in our lives and we know what it is like to have someone show kindness to us.
There is this passage in Acts 3:1-10 that gives us a picture of someone in great need, a lame man who was lame all of his life (40 years). The only way he could get around is to have others carry him. He had to be carried on a daily basis to temple and at the entrance to the temple was this Beautiful Gate. Everyone entered the temple through this gate. He knew he could get money if he was at the gate.
Peter and John are on there way to the temple to “PRAY” at the 9th hour (3pm) and on this particular day they see this “Lame Man”, they make eye contact with him. They must have walked past him many times and did not “SEE” him. Jesus walked through the “Beautiful Gate” and did not heal him.
On this “Particular Day” the “Lame Man’ was seen! But Peter and John did not have money, all they had was faith in JESUS!
They gave the “Lame Man” JESUS, and the “Lame Man’ was healed, transformed by the power of God.
There is a story — perhaps true — about a humble Monk walking with a Priest at a time in the Middle Ages when the church was at its zenith of power, prestige and wealth. The Priest pointed to the opulent surroundings and said to the monk, “We no longer have to say, silver and gold I do not have.” The monk replied, “But neither can you say, In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”
In our world today we focus on meeting a physical need, monetary need, or mental need, meeting these types of needs are extremely important. But many times we miss the real need, the need of the heart. People need the LORD! We all need JESUS and we all need to be changed by Jesus and HIS love.
We live in a country where there is a challenge for everything and we have a phrase for every challenge, “Hey Bo Watch This”.
Today, I am asking you to take the “SEE PEOPLE CHALLENGE”. This is a challenge where we look beyond the outward and we see the person not the circumstance. “Man looks at the outward appearance and GOD sees the heart” 1 Samuel 16:7
