“Restoring our Appetite for GOD”
Today I wanted to share something that can help in “Restoring Our Appetite With GOD”. These are very simple but this basic list will help us stay focus in our relationship with our “Heavenly Father”. For many of us we get so busy doing that we leave out the “Relationship Part”. This happens in our home, with friends, at work and most of all with our “Heavenly Father”.
How do we “Restore The Relationship”????
Return to God Honestly
Don’t pretend to be real.
What to do:
Tell your Heavenly Father where you are in your relationship with HIM
Admit the dryness or lack of hunger
Simple Prayer:
“Father, I don’t feel Hungary for OU right now but I WANT TO BE HUNGARY FOR YOU!!! Please Restore me (Psalm 51).
Start Small but Be Consistent
It is not about intensity, it is and about consistency, Spending time with Your Heavenly FATHER.
What to do:
Set aside specific times daily to spend with GOD, the amount of time will take care of itself.
Build naturally, purpose to enjoy spending time in HIS Presence
Remove or Reduce Distractions:
What feeds your flesh will starve your spirit.
What to do:
Limit social media, noise and unnecessary input, validations from others
Create a quiet, special place for your time with Your Heavenly Father
Reignite Through Worship
Worship your Heavenly Father softens and awakens your heart.
What to do:
Play worship music and engage, do more than listen to the music, WORSHIP!
Sit in God’s presence without rushing
Pray for Hunger for God (Even Without Feeling It)
Prayer:
“LORD, please give me a desire for YOU that overrides everything else” (Psalm 91)
When we make the commitment to be intentional about being in God’s Presence it can feel awkward at first. Our minds wonder, and we feel inadequate praying. Continue to side aside time pray, it will become natural to you and you will enjoy your time with “YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER”
Let’s do a group prayer tonight at 7:00 pm for ten minutes. Wherever you are find a space, put on some worship music, and talk to your Heavenly Father. Let me know what happens.
