📖 Thru the Bible — Revelation: Day 8

Today we step into one of the most awe-inspiring chapters in all of Scripture—Revelation 4.

After the messages to the seven churches, John is given a glimpse into Heaven itself. He sees the throne of God, surrounded by worship, majesty, power, and glory. In a world filled with uncertainty and chaos, Revelation 4 reminds us of a wonderful truth: God is still on the throne.

The twenty-four elders bow before Him. The living creatures cry, “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty.” All of Heaven is focused on worshiping the One who created all things and is worthy of all praise.

No matter what you’re facing today, take comfort in knowing that God has not lost control. The same God John saw seated on the throne is still reigning today.

Take a few moments to read today’s study and be encouraged by the greatness of our God.

Confidence You Can Cling To

If a bully—twice your size—is picking on you, you have a reason to fear. But if you have a friend—twice the bully’s size—standing next to you, the bully has a reason to fear.

When you know that someone bigger, greater, and more powerful than your enemy has your back, confidence is the result.

Perhaps this is why the apostle Paul, inspired by the Holy Spirit, wrote a letter to the believers in Rome—reminding them of the truth:

“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.”

Romans 8:1-2 NKJV

Because the Roman believers belonged to Jesus, they no longer had to live in fear. God causes all things to work together for the good of those who love Him and, one day, He will make everything—including our dying bodies—brand new.

The truth about their identity emboldened Paul:

“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”

Romans 8:31 NKJV

If the Creator and Sustainer of everything that exists has put Himself on our side, who can be against us? Who can even touch us? Who would even think about picking a fight that they ultimately could not win?

Someone might hurt our feelings or even our bodies, but they cannot touch our souls. They cannot come against the living God and succeed. They cannot turn against God’s chosen people without answering for their decisions. This means that whatever wrong has been done to us can be left in God’s reliable hands.

We can rely on God as our just Defender and our righteous Judge.

When we become His by trusting in Jesus as our Savior—by grace through faith—the strongest defense in the universe, God in His fullness (the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), is forever on our side.

our lives impact more people than we realize. If we stop serving, stop witnessing, stop praying, or stop standing for Christ, others may suffer because of it. There are souls all around us who need the Gospel. Every day, people step into eternity without Jesus Christ.

Far too often, we become distracted by the temporary things of this world while neglecting what matters most—eternity. As believers, we should be burdened for those who are lost and without hope. The greatest need of mankind is not wealth, success, or comfort, but salvation through Jesus Christ.

As Hebrews 12:2 teaches, we must keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith. He endured the cross for us, and because of His sacrifice, we can continue faithfully in the race He has given us to run.

May this message encourage you to stay faithful, stay focused, and remember that eternity is at stake.

God Is Faithful

We all face difficult seasons in life. It’s not a matter of if trials will come, but when. Yet when those challenges arise, we can take comfort in knowing that we are never alone.

In Isaiah 43:2, God reminded Israel that His faithfulness was not dependent on their circumstances. He had been faithful in the past, and He would continue to guide, protect, and sustain them in the future.

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you.”
— Isaiah 43:2 (NKJV)

“When you pass through the waters…”

After 400 years of slavery, God raised up Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. When Pharaoh’s army pursued them and escape seemed impossible, God made a way through the Red Sea. What looked like certain defeat became a powerful display of God’s deliverance. (See Exodus 14.)

Isaiah’s readers would have remembered this incredible act of God’s faithfulness and power.

“And through the rivers…”

They may also have thought of the Jordan River, when God stopped the waters so the Israelites could cross into the Promised Land. Carrying the ark of the covenant before them, they witnessed God’s presence and provision firsthand. Afterward, they built a memorial so future generations would remember what God had done. (See Joshua 3–4.)

“When you walk through the fire…”

These words remind us of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, who refused to bow to King Nebuchadnezzar’s golden image. Because of their faithfulness to God, they were thrown into a blazing furnace. Yet God was with them in the fire, protecting them from harm. When they came out, they didn’t even smell like smoke. (See Daniel 3.)

Though this event occurred after Isaiah’s time, God’s promise proved true. He was faithful then, and He remains faithful today.

Remembering God’s faithfulness in the past strengthens our trust in Him for the future.

No matter what trial you may be facing, God is not surprised by it. He has already gone before you. The waters may rise, the rivers may seem overwhelming, and the fire may feel intense, but God promises His presence in the midst of it all.

Life’s difficulties do not have the final word. God is still sovereign. He is still powerful. He is still providing. He is still protecting His people.

Today, take a moment to reflect on God’s faithfulness in your own life. How has He carried you through difficult seasons? And how can those memories help you trust Him with whatever lies ahead?

Closing Thought: God’s promise in Isaiah 43:2 is not that we will never face deep waters or fiery trials—it is that He will be with us through them all. ❤️
