One of our Core Values at Pursue Church is intentional discipleship. Intentional discipleship looks like connecting with people and seeking to intentionally help them grow where they are lacking. One thing with faith, if it is not growing, it easily becomes stagnant.

Intentional discipleship has been shaping my vision and conversations. Purposefully connecting with fathers who have young kids has been a heart passion of Pursue since the beginning. It is not easy leading a home, working a full time job, being a daddy, a husband, a son, and the multiple other roles we have. With that being said, having purposeful conversations with these men has guided our pursuit of intentional discipleship.

God has given great vision for how we might help these families grow. In an article written by Robbie Low one can read exactly how a dad can impact his household’s.

“…if a father does not go to church, no matter how faithful his wife’s devotions, only one in 50 will become a regular worshipper. If the father does go regularly, regardless of the practice of the mother, between two-thirds and three-quarters of their children will become churchgoers (regular or irregular). If a father goes irregularly to church, regardless of his wife’s devotion, between a half and two-thirds of their offspring will find themselves coming to church regularly or occasionally.”

When God grants the opportunity, I met with men and ask – what are some areas in your life that you see lacking or desire to grow? For me, it is growing in leading my home spiritually and intentionally. That is my desire, to be a pastor in the pulpit and to be the solid spiritual leader at home. Some other men have expressed this same desire. Some men have expressed a desire to grow as a husband and in their marriage.

As we continue to minister in Rock Hill, God has laid it on my heart not to wait to have a building and a worship service, but to begin in ministry now! With that being said, we look to begin a small group study (maybe call them Community Groups) to help people grow in their faith. Our first small group will begin sometime in April! I am thrilled that God continues to give vision and the growth for our Christ Centered Community.

The small group will focus on connecting with married couples and help in growing in a Christian marriage. We want to help people intentionally grow in Christ as people and as couples.

Keep us in prayer as we journey through life together! Remember our mission, Pursue God, Pursue Purpose, and Pursue Full life!
