Friend of Providence Presbytery and Winthrop University professor Dr. Ginger Williams embarked on an impactful journey this week -- to walk the Migrant Trail in order to honor the people who have lost their lives on their migrant journey to the US.

Ginger is also raising money on this trip to help Frontera de Cristo, which provides employment opportunities to people living on the border in Mexico, and Carolina Immigrant Alliance which helps immigrants in Rock Hill with immigration applications and paperwork. Our friends at Bethelwoods Camp & Conference Center are seeking clergy help this summer!

Would you be willing to give of your time to help make an impact on young people during their camp experience?

Bethelwoods is seeking pastors willing to volunteer their time to lead morning watch and/or evening worship for campers. Your presence and guidance would have a meaningful impact on the spiritual growth of the youth. Housing is provided and you can share a week with another clergy member.

The weeks are:
• June 7-12
• June 14-19
• June 21-26
• June 28-July 3
• July 5-10
• July 12-17
• July 19-24
• July 26-31

Scholarship Application for The John C. and Queen Miller Scholarship is now open!
🎓 Applicants should be of African American/Black descent AND a member of one of the churches in Providence Presbytery.

🎓 The Committee on Racial and Religious Reconciliation invites high school seniors who meet the criteria to apply.

🎓 The application can be found on Providence Presbytery’s website under the Forms category or by visiting bit.ly/providencescholarship

🎓 The John C. and Queen Miller Scholarship is a one-time award of $1,500. This scholarship is awarded annually and may be divided among multiple recipients.
It is managed by Providence Presbytery's Committee on Racial and Religious Reconciliation.

If you have high school graduating Seniors in your church, please encourage them to apply!

Congratulations to Liz Corsig!
The presbytery enthusiastically approved her ordination as a Minister of Word and Sacrament and call as Associate Pastor for Youth and Young Adults at Unity Presbyterian Church during yesterday's stated meeting.

Her sermon on maintaining faith during times of transition was both timely and well received.

The service for her installation will be August 30, 2026 at 4 p.m.

This month Ginger Williams, a member of Providence Presbytery's Mexico Border Ministry Team, will walk 75 miles through the Arizonan desert along what is known as the "Migrant Trail" to raise awareness of the migrant deaths that occur on the US border with Mexico.

Ginger is asking for prayer and donations which will be shared between Frontera de Cristo, a border ministry which supports people in Mexico through employment so they have no need to migrate, and our local Carolina Immigrant Alliance which supports immigrant families with the paperwork required to obtain legal status in the US.

Bethelwoods Camp & Conference Center had the pleasure of hosting the 2nd annual Bethelwoods & Bowties last weekend. The event brought together supporters from across the community and Presbytery to celebrate and invest in the ministry of this beloved “God’s House in the Woods.” Guests donned their finest attire and enjoyed an elegant evening of fellowship.

The evening featured a catered dinner, a lively silent auction, a 50/50 raffle, and unique activities that reflected the joy and hospitality of the Bethelwoods experience. We were especially grateful for the partnership of local businesses and churches, whose support helped make the event both accessible and successful.

While final numbers are still being confirmed, we are excited to share that the event is projected to raise over $10,000 in support of Bethelwoods’ ongoing ministry. These funds will directly support camp programming, facility improvements, and the continued outreach of Bethelwoods as a place of growth, rest, and encounter with God for people of all ages.

Just as important as the financial impact was the opportunity to strengthen relationships, welcome new supporters, and share Bethelwoods’ 61-year legacy and vision for the future.

If you were unable to attend this year, we hope you will join us next time! Bethelwoods & Bowties is held annually on the first Saturday in May, and we would love for congregations across Providence Presbytery to consider attending or becoming event sponsors.

The Presbytery Coordinating Team is exploring a possible change to the meeting day and time to better serve our members.

Providence Presbytery currently holds four stated meetings per year, typically on Sunday afternoons. You are invited to take a brief survey to help the Coordinating Team make a well-informed recommendation to the body relating to this matter.
