Last night, St. Mary's was represented at the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage stop in our state capitol. After Mass at the The Basilica of Saint Peter in Columbia, crowds of faithful took to the streets in procession, prayer, and song before returning for Adoration, Confession, and Benediction.

The procession continues this morning on the St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Route at Our Lady of Grace in Indian Land at 10:30am

There’s a lot of BUZZ about our Marriage Catechumenate series! 🐝

We are so grateful for the 40 leaders who joined our first session. One attendee called this new path “a positive step and a great thing to do for engaged couples.”

Don’t miss out on the sweetness—Join Daniel West, executive director of Family Honor as we discuss how to nurture the faith in our youngest “bees.”

Whether you’re a parent, catechist, or leader, this session is vital for passing on the faith. 🍯

At the end of the final Mass in Equatorial Guinea, Pope Leo sang the Regina Coeli in front of this stunning image of Our Lady of Bisila. I thought I knew most of the Marian devotions, but evidently there’s wonderfully more! The image took my breath away.

The story goes that in the early 19th century, Our Lady appeared to humble Bubi woman on the Bioko Island, dressed in white and blue and carrying the Child Jesus on her back in a typical African style. She identified herself as Bisila, giving the woman instructions on how to cure and protect the children - the treasures of the island- from a mysterious epidemic that had struck the Bubi people. Promising renewal of life if the people listened and followed her words.

What started as a local devotion grew into a National Marian faith and she was solemnly crowned in 1987. She became known as “Our Lady of the Island” and “Mother Bisila.”

I have to say, I am utterly smitten.

Honor our Blessed Mother this May by joining in the Walk to Mary pilgrimage locally at Saint Philip Neri Catholic Church in May 2.

👣 Walk to Mary – Across America!
Join us for a historic event! The Diocese of Charleston is proud to be one of only six locations in the nation hosting an official satellite walk for the "Walk to Mary." This devotion honors Our Lady of Champion, the only Vatican-approved Marian apparition in the U.S. We will unite with thousands of pilgrims across the country in prayer for a powerful multilingual rosary procession.
