DECEMBER 2025 NEWSLETTER (IT WILL BE SENT TO ALL ON OUR MAILING LIST)

December 2025
Merry Christmas to all!
After much discussion with our Board, we have made the difficult decision to dissolve the Sacred Heart Haiti Mission. This will be our last newsletter. We have received some monetary donations over the last month or so and we would like to assure you that your donation will be used as intended for the people of Haiti, but it is no longer tax deductible. We still have a sizable amount in our account that will be sent to our contacts in Haiti. Due to the extreme violence, we have not been able to send a shipment since July of 2023. At the beginning of November, we sent money to Father Brillere whom we’ve had a relationship with for many years. He has been emailing us and telling us of the violence and devastation. No one is safe, not even priests or nuns. We also sent money to the Missionaries of Charity in Miami with instructions to send it on to our Missionaries of Charity in Haiti. We have conflicting information on whether they are at the location they've always been, or if they were forced to move.

In anticipation of closing the mission, we have been downsizing the contents of our storage units and donating the items to the Rochester Medical Mission, ReStore of Rochester, Birthright,
The Landing MN (daytime homeless shelter), and local Haitians living in Rochester. The rest will be donated to suitable agencies in the Spring, when we can get back into the storage units.

We have so many fond memories of Dale & Joyce and the Missionaries of Charity throughout the years. May their lives of service and dedication to the people of Haiti be an inspiration and
calling to each one of us to find and take up our own cause for justice; no matter what that looks like. Each one of us CAN make a difference, and Dale & Joyce are proof of that! They are role
models of what it means to be a servant of God and to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

We wish to thank you for your many years of prayers, dedicated support and donations for the people of Haiti. Please continue to keep them in your prayers. If you have any questions or have
anything you’d like to discuss, please don’t hesitate to call me.
We wish you a safe and very Merry Christmas!

We are no longer collecting items for the Mission. It is too volatile to send containers. We have been unable to send a container for almost 2 1/2 years.
We are in discussions about the future of the Mission. Once a decision has been made, we will post the information. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

We are receiving conflicting information on the safety of shipping a container to Haiti right now. You may continue to gather items to donate but please hold on to them until we know for certain if we will be able to ship a container this spring or summer. Thank you for your continued prayers! Dear friends Our alert about moving the NPH project from the mountains of Kenscoff to the Tabarre area, has been cautiously on hold. The director has been able to visit in close proximity to the gangs in the mountain, and learn their plans and goals, from gardeners carrying goods from the mountains

CORRECTION:
THIS IS NOT OUR PLACE ON DELMAS! This is the the Sisters place in San Fils, but they were unharmed. The houses, hospital, and residence were looted and burned down.
Please join us in praying for their safety & for an end to this horrific violence, death, & destruction.

The convent had provided free medical care to nearly 1,500 inpatients and 30,000 outpatients each year, fulfilling a vital role in one of Haiti’s most vulnerable communities.

UPDATE ON SHIPPING:
We will not be shipping anytime soon due to the continuing gang violence. I heard from a priest friend who said it is too dangerous to try and unload a container at this time in Port au Prince. We are still collecting items until approximately October 15, weather dependent.
Saturday, October 12 is the annual CCW meeting at Church of the Resurrection in Rochester. If you have items to donate, that would be a great day to drop them off either at the church or the storage shed that morning. We will have a few trucks in the parking lot at 7:30 AM and will load up and head to the storage units to unload.

Today's patron of the day is Mother Teresa of Calcutta, let's listen to the words of the saint
Did you know that every day can be Christmas for someone?
Every time you smile at your brother and hold out your hands to him, it's Christmas.
Every time you stop to listen, it's Christmas.
Every time you give up the rules that oppress people in their loneliness like an iron ring, it's Christmas.
Whenever you give a little hope to prisoners, to those who are overwhelmed by the burden of physical, moral and spiritual poverty, it is Christmas.
Whenever you recognize in humility how little your possibilities are and how great your weakness, it is Christmas.
Whenever you allow God to love others through you, always then, it is Christmas.

There will be a sorting & packing day at the storage units on Wed. July 17, 9:00 am-2:00 pm. If you have items to drop off, that would be a good time to do it.
