Lovely, mild Saturday,
Community Presbyterian Friends,
So, tomorrow is Transfiguration Sunday, where Jesus takes Peter, James and John “to the top of a very high mountain” and His “unveiled glory” is revealed as Moses and Elijah talk with Him.
Peter begins babbling, as he sometimes does … THEN God speaks … and the three fall to the ground stupefied with fear and awe.
I’ve worked with The Transfiguration before, or course, but this year, possibly because of my personal difficulty, the disciples’ fear and anxiety came into focus for me.
The way Jesus helped them with their fear, and got them on their feet, and down the mountain into the-rest-of-their-life destiny … seems to me helpful for all of us, as we face uncertainty, anxiety … even fear.
So, read Matthew 17:1-14 in preparation for tomorrow and join us in person or by live-stream as we worship!
I’m leaving Monday for Bethesda MD for surgery on Wednesday. Please pray for safe travel and that the surgery would be helpful to me.
