Today, on All Saints Sunday, we remembered the faithful people who helped shape our lives and showed us what it looks like to follow Christ.

In his message, “What Will They Say About Us?” Pastor Reuben reminded us that saints are not perfect people. They are ordinary people who trust God and allow the light of Christ to shine through the way they live and love.

Someday, we will each leave a story behind. May ours be one of kindness, faithfulness, and making a difference in the lives of others.

The November newsletter is also available on the church website, with news and events for the month.

Pastor Reuben’s message, “The Devil Made Me Do It,” looks at Peter’s warning to stay alert and resist the things that pull us away from God. We are reminded that we do not face temptation alone. Through prayer, Scripture, and trust in Jesus, we can stand firm.

As our Wednesday morning Bible study wraps up its journey through the Book of Job next week , we are looking forward to beginning something new!

Starting Wednesday, October 28, from 10:30 to 11:30 am, we will begin a four-week study of The Battle for Your Soul by Dr. David Jeremiah. Using his book and DVD, we will explore 31 biblical truths about spiritual warfare and learn how we can stand strong and live victoriously in Christ.

We will meet in the classroom at High Desert United Methodist Church. Whether you joined us for Job or are coming for the first time, you are welcome!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who makes our pet food ministry possible!

On the first Friday of every month, HDUMC provides pet food alongside our regular food pantry distribution. Last Friday, volunteers distributed 528 pounds of pet food to 66 pantry clients, helping feed 119 dogs and 85 cats.

We are grateful to the New Mexico Street Pet Project, our church members, donors, and everyone who shopped, packed, and distributed the food. Your kindness is helping local families care for the pets they love.

Today is World Communion Sunday, when Christians around the world gather at Christ’s table in unity.

Join us online for worship this morning. In “Take His Hand,” Pastor Reuben reminds us that the hands of Jesus healed, comforted, served, and welcomed those others overlooked. Today, Christ calls us to continue that work with our own hands.

Watch the service live on our YouTube channel.

This evening, members of High Desert gathered for our Church Conference. Before turning to church business, we shared a wonderful potluck and enjoyed time together in fellowship.

Displays along the back of the sanctuary offered a beautiful reminder that our church’s work extends far beyond Sunday worship. Through ministries such as our Food Pantry, Feed New Mexico Kids, Women with Purpose, birthday bags for children at Saranam, prayer shawls, and gift bags, members of our congregation are sharing God’s love in many practical and caring ways.

These are only a few of the ways High Desert is making a difference in our community and beyond.

It’s easy to say we love God, but what does that love look like in our everyday lives?

This morning, Pastor Reuben wraps up his "3 Rules" sermons by reminding us that we stay close to God through prayer, Scripture, worship, Communion, and serving others. These practices help shape how we treat the people around us.

Three simple rules that can guide us every day. Do no harm. Do good. Stay in love with God.
