Monday: The Sacredness of Beginnings

Scripture Focus: Joshua 1:1–2 Theme: Recognizing Threshold Moments

The transition from the wilderness to the Promised Land was a "threshold moment"—a space between what was and what will be. Joshua stood at the edge of the Jordan, facing the daunting task of following the greatest leader in Israel's history, Moses. Like Fred Rogers once noted, every beginning should be treated as sacred because beginnings shape us in ways endings cannot. They set our direction and form our character.

Reflect: What "threshold" are you currently standing on, and how might viewing it as a sacred moment change your perspective?

06/01/2026

Sometimes God shows us the promise, but we still have to take the step of faith! 🌊 Just like Joshua had to step into the water to cross into the Promised Land, we have to step forward into the new things God has for us - even when we're nervous. What step is God calling you to take today?

SATURDAY

The Shape of a Spirit-Filled Community

SCRIPTURE FOCUS

Acts 2:42-47 — "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer."

REFLECTION

Pentecost did not produce isolated, individually Spirit-filled believers who went home and lived their spiritual lives in private. It produced a community. The final movement of Acts 2 shows us what a Spirit-filled church looks like in practice — and it is both beautiful and demanding.

Four marks: teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayer. They were devoted — the Greek suggests a kind of persistent, unwavering commitment — to these four things. And the result was astonishing: awe fell on everyone, needs were met, joy overflowed, and the Lord added to their number daily.

Holiness is both personal and social. A truly sanctified heart will inevitably be drawn into community, into service, into the kind of costly, generous love that sells possessions to care for brothers and sisters in need.

This is the vision of the Church that Acts 2 put before us. Not a perfectly organized institution, but a community so genuinely transformed by the Spirit that the watching world could not help but take notice. That community is still possible. That Spirit is still available. The same Lord who added to their number daily is still at work — and He invites us to be part of what He is building.

TODAY'S QUESTION

Which of the four marks of the early church — teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, or prayer — is most lacking in your own spiritual life right now, and what is one concrete step you could take this week to grow in that area?

Pastor Daniel Elliott Jr. 🔥 You don't have to keep living in defeat! Every believer has been given a mission to share God's love with the world. Your faith isn't just for Sunday mornings - it should pour out of you in EVERY moment of your life. Stop doubting and start living like you mean it! 💪
