This past Sunday, we celebrated the conclusion of our Sunday school year. Throughout our lessons, the children learned about the Holy Spirit, the fruits of the spirit, and the importance of ensuring our actions match our beliefs. We also followed Paul’s journeys through the Roman Empire, seeing how he remained faithful to God despite many trials and tribulations.
To celebrate, the children sang and enjoyed cake and ice cream. We also discussed three modern missionaries who are spreading the Gospel globally, and the challenges they face due to differing laws and religious contexts.
In July, we look forward to welcoming special guest Lauren Dawson to our church. Lauren has been serving in Tunisia, teaching English and building connections to share the Gospel. Regarding how we can support her work, Lauren shared:
“I've had so many great conversations over shared meals and snacks, and so many doors have opened just by the simple act of sharing food and culture. Additionally, small, simple games are also something that are a huge help, especially to my students at the refugee shelter. Things like Bananagrams or Uno are awesome. I know none of these things are super overtly tied into my work and sharing God’s word, but they sure do help facilitate relationship building and deep conversation.”
Our Sunday school students will be preparing cards for Lauren and collecting donations of their favorite snacks for her to take back and share. It has been a joy to show the children the work of missionaries around the world and provide them with a meaningful way to help.
