We could describe Samson a number of ways: super strong, head strong, heroic, and driven--yet we could also say he was: arrogant, lustful, and shortsighted. Ultimately, and unfortuantely, this divinely-chosen savior for Israel made his life much harder through his foolishness.

In Judges 15, we see Samson continue to leave a path of rage-filled destruction as he exacts vengeance for personal vendettas. Yet, He is God's man to save Israel, and multiple times now God has given this broken savior divine help. While we can't relate to superhuman strength, we can relate to Samson's deep weakness. In this message on Judges 13, Jeremy shows how God brings life, purpose, and deliverance out of spiritual and physical barrenness through the promised birth of Samson. Despite Israel’s unrepentant sin and hopeless condition, God moves first in grace, calling His people and providing a consecrated deliverer who points forward to the greater promised Son, Jesus Christ. Because of this, we are invited to respond to God’s call by consecrating our lives to Him—turning from lesser things and stepping into His greater purpose.

Moments happen in the Bible that so painfully, so clearly display our incredible need for God and his powerful work in our lives. The story of Jephthah captures this dynamic.
