Honor Authority

Scripture: “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority…” — 1 Timothy 2:1-2 KJV

Devotional Thought: Honor does not mean we agree with everything someone does. It means we obey God’s instruction to pray, respect, and walk in godliness. When we honor authority God’s way, we guard our hearts from strife, bitterness, and dishonor.

Prayer: “Father, help me pray instead of criticize. Teach me to honor in a way that pleases You.” Amen

Action Step: Pray for leaders today: government leaders, pastors, employers, teachers, police officers, and first responders.

I declare this by faith in Jesus’ name!

Mark 2, Acts 22, Proverbs 4

“Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “My child, your sins are forgiven.” So I will prove to you that the Son of Man has the authority on earth to forgive sins.” Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!” And the man jumped up, grabbed his mat, and walked out through the stunned onlookers. They were all amazed and praised God, exclaiming, “We’ve never seen anything like this before!””
‭‭Mark‬ ‭2‬:‭5‬, ‭10‬-‭12‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Honor in Relationships

Scripture: “Love one another with brotherly affection… giving precedence and showing honor to one another.” — Romans 12:10 AMPC

Devotional Thought: Honor shows up in how we treat people. It is seen in marriage, family, friendships, ministry, and daily conversations. Honor does not belittle, mock, or dishonor others. It chooses value, respect, humility, and love.

Prayer: “Lord, help me honor the people You have placed in my life. Let my words and actions reflect Your love.” Amen

Action Step: Encourage or thank someone today with genuine words of honor.

I declare this by faith in Jesus’ name!

Mark 1, Acts 21, Proverbs 3

“just as the prophet Isaiah had written: “Look, I am sending my messenger ahead of you, and he will prepare your way. He is a voice shouting in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord’s coming! Clear the road for him!’””
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1‬:‭2‬-‭3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Honor the Word

Scripture: “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” — John 5:39 KJV

Devotional Thought: To honor God is to honor His Word. We cannot separate love for God from respect for what He has said. His Word gives wisdom, correction, direction, and life. A heart that honors God makes His Word the final authority.

Prayer: “Father, give me a greater hunger for Your Word. Teach me to search the Scriptures and obey what You show me.” Amen

Action Step: Read one chapter of the Bible today and ask: “Lord, what are You showing me?”

I declare this by faith in Jesus’ name!

Matthew 28, Acts 20, Proverbs 2

“Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28‬:‭18‬-‭20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Make a Quality Decision

Scripture: “Choose you this day whom ye will serve…” — Joshua 24:15 KJV

Devotional Thought: Honor requires a decision. We described a quality decision as one with no retreat and no argument. Walking in honor does not happen accidentally. We must choose it in our words, our attitude, our giving, our relationships, and our obedience to God.

Prayer: “Lord, I make a quality decision to walk in honor. Help me not to be moved by feelings, offense, or culture, but by Your Word.” Amen.

Action Step: Write this declaration: “From this day forward, I choose honor.” Put it somewhere you will see it.

I declare this by faith in Jesus’ name!

Matthew 27, Acts 19, Proverbs 1

“Then Jesus shouted out again, and he released his spirit. At that moment the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. The earth shook, rocks split apart, and tombs opened. The bodies of many godly men and women who had died were raised from the dead.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭27‬:‭50‬-‭52‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Honor Begins in the Heart

Scripture: “These people draw near to Me with their mouth and honor Me with their lips, but their heart holds off and is far away from Me.” — Matthew 15:8 AMPC

Reflection: Honor is more than words. It is not lip service, performance, or religious routine. True honor begins in the heart. A healed heart learns to value what God values, love what God loves, and respond to Him with sincerity.

Prayer: “Father, search my heart. Remove anything that has become empty routine and restore true honor in me. I want my worship to come from a heart that is close to You.” Amen

Action Step: Ask yourself today: “Am I honoring God with my heart or just my words?” Write down one way you can honor Him sincerely today.
