Celebrating Juneteenth 2026 with grateful hearts and a community that shines. Thank you to every vendor and community partner who supported our Day—we couldn’t have done it without you. A special shoutout to all of our amazing staff members who poured their heart and soul into the day. Grateful for Sterling Stone for his tremendous gifts of community and unity. Big big thanks to Fon, Asata, Ryan, Shelby, Tiona, Tina, Brenda, Ty, and Tuesday—without you this day would not be possible. From grilling to shirt design to prep and clean-up, you all ROCK. What an incredible Juneteenth celebration. Our deepest gratitude goes to the bands, West African dance and drumming talents, and everyone who helped make the day unforgettable. A special shoutout to Day Bracey ~ Chief Of Freedom ~ for the MC duties, and to My Brother and Me—Darius and Demetrius—for handling the DJ set and sound. We’re also grateful to Balafon West African Ensemble for the stunning dance and drumming, and Nash.V.iLL and LiveFromtheCity for the live performances. Thank you to PaPa Dame, Opare, Christala, Jaquea Mae, and Ethan, both former and current staff and contributors, for their ongoing investment in our mission and presence. Your energy and artistry created a powerful, unifying day that will be remembered warmly by our community.

Friday @ Our Juneteenth Celebration we unveiled murals honoring Dr. DorothyHeight, Mrs. Yvonne Spencer and Antwon Rose II as we recognized their profound impact on Rankin, 15104 communities and the Rankin Christian Center. The artwork was brought to life by Max Emiliano Gonzales (GEMS), Thomas Ndiaye, and Patrick Everett. Lee Davis spoke to the significance of Dr. Height’s legacy, Darlene McGregor reflected on Mrs. Spencer’s contributions, and Ms. Michele Kenney honored Antwon Rose II’s impact. Their leadership, service, and commitment to justice continue to guide our work. A special thanks to Michele Kenney, Antwon Rose II’s mother, for her unwavering commitment to the mural.We invite reflection and dialogue in the comments as we celebrate community, resilience, and justice.

Each of these individuals helped mold our center, 15104 and Rankin with a spirit of unity and service. We invite you to visit the mural, reflect on their stories, and share your memories or messages of gratitude in the comments.

What a wonderful Bring Your Child to Work day we had here at our Center. Darlene McGregor our executive director kicked the day off by explaining the importance of giving back & volunteering. The kids also shared a wholesome lunch, created the Bee Kind craft, and carried forward our mantra “because nice matters”. They participated in a fun filled Bingo with our Seniors lead by our Senior director, Michele Trovato. They were also given the opportunity to help out in our food pantry directed by out Food Services director, Tiona Robison. The day ended on a high note with a Q&A session featuring Mon Valley’s Maria Baker and our Youth Programs lead Sterling Stone. Heartfelt appreciation to HR Director Paula Potnosnak for orchestrating every detail that made this day possible. Thank you to all who participated and supported our families. MonValley
